BEATON BROTHERS FLOORING CO

They are not reputable.  They did a terrible job installing the floor.  There are gaps in the floor and there are some areas that are higher and lower.  I tried calling them 6 times to get them to come back out.  They never came back out, they kept pushing me off.  I ended up having to have another company come in and redo their bad work.  They also didn't install the transition strip properly.  They were very rude to me, they would always say they were coming back out and never showed up.

Based on the fact that this company has been in the business for many years, we know several people who have used them,  we decided to seek their expertise  without comparables!!!  Shame on us!  The salesman in the office, Mike, was pleasant and professional, but that did not prove to be the case with the family run management.  Samples were offered to take home, and we decided on a Bruce Solid Maple Prefininshed Hardwood flooring.
The owner, Dave Beaton, the owner, sent someone out to measure for materials;  We made one change prior to the order being placed.  We indicated that we were opting to eliminate hardwood flooring in our small 1/2 bathroom, beginning headache #1.  Our request met immediately with protest from the owner's wife, who called and  INSISTED that we order more flooring, even though the measurements taken did not indicate the need to do so.  The serviceman came out a second time, remeasured, and agreed with us, but again, Mrs Beaton objected.  Placing value on her expertise, and hoping to avoid problems and delays with the install, we took her advice and placed the orig order.    When the install was complete and the addl wood she insisted on us purchasing indeed was not used, it was H*** trying to receive a refund, many phone calls, several visits, and then months until our refund was mailed to us.
The install went well and we loved the floor!  Unfortunately, approx 6 mos. after the installation, another problem arose.  Inexplainable, the wood finish in two areas on the floor began to disintegrate and peel away (like clear nailpolish peeling off your nail), revealing clear white maple underneath!   NUMEROUS MESSAGES WERE NEVER RETURNED over a period of several weeks.  In frustration, we attempted successfully to contact the manufacturer directly, but the whole experience left us exasperated!   I work in a customer service related field...understanding the challenges, I am patient and courteous....I can't believe the BEATON BROTHERS have stayed in business all these years with the arrogance and lack of attn they show customers...Never again! 
PS  We found out later through online reviews, there is an ongoing problem with BRUCE (an ARMSTRONG CO'S)  baked prefinishing process seemingly unique to their application on maple flooring-beware!
