I had a good experience with the oil tank removal. However, they weren’t clear about charges. I agreed to hire them because in shopping for estimates they were the middle man. However, look at the estimate carefully. If any permits need to be pulled they put “permit”-TBD and charge $150 to obtain the permit. So when I received there estimate I thought that was the complete estimate and there would be no other charges. This was not true. I paid half up front and the other half was due when the job was complete. When the job was complete I had an addition charge of $400 for obtaining the permit and the permit itself. When I explained my situation and asked that they give some type of credit with the $150 they threatened to sue me and put a lien on my house. Do I think it would go that far “NO”. Attorneys are very expensive. However, I will not be referring them to anyone because of the sneaky manner in which they charge and also the threatening manner in which they ended the job. It’s not worth the headache though. If $400 is going to make such a difference I will pay it. Stay away charged are not clear. When they found out how much the permit would cost I believe they should have informed me as well as informed me that it would cost $150 to obtain the permit.

ERC performed all tasks as specified in their Proposal. They arrived and performed all work within the time period scheduled.

I called on a Thursday and they arrived on time the very next day and skillfully removed 550 gallon in ground tank. Refilled hole and even replanted my bushes. Set up all permits and scheduled all inspections, removal of waste oil and tank recycling.

In my opinion, this company is worst of all. This is what happened to me. Based on online research such as Google Review, Yelp, Home Advisor, Angie’s list, I decided to ask ERC Environmental to remove the underground tank from my property. Since their web site claims 1) Flat Rate, 2) No surprise fee, 3) Restoration to original state after removal, this sounds very good. If you read their website, you will feel they understand the consumer’s feeling and they will take care of us very well. That didn’t happen. Not sure about other people, but ERC actually did and STILL DOING the opposite from what they say they will do. 1) Flat rate: Not true. I have paid for removal, cleaning the soil twice, and then they are asking to more, that was when I stopped them. 2) No surprise fee: Not true. They charged me nothing but surprise. They don’t even explain what it is going on or what will happen. They just told me that this is necessary in order to close the case and sell the house. Oh by the way, don’t tell them you are selling your house. They know the customer pay good and fast if you are trying to sell the house, especially if the house is under the contract. 3) Restoration: No true. They destroyed my property, but they refused to restore. I am doing my tank removal process with other company now, but ERC is holding the documents that I have paid fully. Without my documents they are holding, I have to pay other company to start over. I have been asking the documents almost 2 months. I have to involve BBB and DEP. Again, I have paid everything they asked. That is because they didn’t like me to report to BBB, they hold my documents as hostage and asking me to remove the claim from BBB, so they will release my documents to me. I hope my case is special, but the good company will work with customers. The good company does not take your money, but the bad company doesn’t provide you what they promise. The good company take care of its customer, but the bad company’s customers start worrying about many things and call many other places to collect information. The good company doesn’t threaten to sue its customers, instead they will try to find solution, but the bad company will hold the products the customers have paid and wait for customers start crying and stepping back. Again, I hope you don’t have any issues with ERC and this only happens to me. But if you ask me, I would avoid ERC Environmental at any cost.
