"Member, thank you for the review! We appreciate that you took the time to let us know that you were pleased with our work. Please keep us in mind if you or anyone you know need our services in the future."
"Member, Occasionally we are contacted by a property owner after another contractor has already removed the tank and the excavation backfilled. If the tank has been disposed of when we arrive we have no way to evaluate the soil, the condition of the tank or the degree of the release. Unfortunately in a case such as this, we have no way to determine the severity of the release and if it has impacted soil to the extent that it would require removal. Not all tank discharges require physical soil removal. We close numerous cases each year without physical soil removal and expensive disposal. Our intent is to not only evaluate the degree of soil impacts but also attempt to close the case with the NJDEP without soil removal, if possible. Unfortunately sometimes the tests indicated that a cleanup is necessary. Regretfully your tank leaked and the soil removal must occur in order for the NJDEP to close your case and issue a Letter of No Further Action (NFA). We are sorry you are not satisfied with our work. We do believe we took the correct approach in investigating first. As we said, we close numerous cases each year without expensive excavation. Unfortunately, that is not the case with your site."
The crew was polite and professional. Work was completed as scheduled. They did a great job!
I would use them again, highly recommended!

"Thank you for the review Member! We're glad to hear you were satisfied with the work. We try to do as much as we can for the homeowner to make this a seamless process, and that includes applying for permits and scheduling the required inspections. It's one less headache for the homeowner. We appreciate any referrals you send our way. Word of mouth is the best referral after all. Thanks again."
I contacted three contractors for an estimate for this job and Applied Service was the middle quote amount. They came out and were very friendly and said they had a lot of experience installing the Roth tanks. Their web site was also very informative and they received good reviews there and on Angie's list. I picked them for the installation for all those reasons.
They emailed me before the date of the appointment for installation and explained the additional costs needed for the town inspection. They also called me the day before the install to make sure everything was still on schedule.
On the day of the installation, they arrived on time and spent approximately 5 hours installing the new tank, reconnecting it to the furnace, adding a tiger loop aeration system, transferring the oil from the old tank to the new one and cutting up the old tank and cleaning the inside. They made sure the furnace was back up and running at the end of the tank install. They also installed 2 bollards in the garage in front of the tank to protect it from potential vehicle damage. Finally, they cleaned up after themselves. I was watching them the entire time and asking questions and they were very friendly and answered all my questions. They worked in close to freezing conditions outside and in the garage, with some snow on the ground. They offered to provide some protection for my carpet in the basement, as they were walking back and forth, but I already put some down myself so it was not necessary.
The next day the town inspector showed up (as promised) and approved the installation and the old tank cleanup. I then emailed them a copy of the permits as they instructed me to speed up the removal of the old tank. One week later they showed up and removed the old tank, also as promised.
Overall, it was a very positive experience. They were friendly and professional and met all my expectations. I would recommend their services to anyone who needs this sort of service.
"Member, thank you for the review and for sharing your experience with Applied Service. It gives other members a chance to see how the process of an oil tank replacement works, as well as the attention to detail that our crews take to complete the job the right way, the safe way. We're also glad you noted that our crews came out in cold, wintery weather. Many people assume this type of work cannot be completed during the winter months, but here at Applied Service we are ready, willing, and very capable of handling all of your oil tank needs, no matter what time of year. In fact, since you also mentioned our website, we have some great photos showing an emergency response in some rather chilly surroundings. Thank you again for taking the time to give us such a nice review, and be sure to let us know if you ever need our services again in the future."

"Member, thank you for the kind review. We are very happy to hear you were pleased with the work. It's true that here at Applied Service we are usually booked out a few weeks, but as you stated, we are worth the wait. Our office staff and our on site crews are very professional and polite and we treat every job as if it were taking place at our own home, which is why we are always in high demand. Please keep us in mind if you or anyone you know need our services in the future. Thank you again for taking the time to leave us a review! It's always great to be recognized for a job well done."
"Member, thank you for your review. We regret to hear that you were disappointed that we could not accept the Angie's List 5% off coupon. As we had previously discussed, we had already offered you a discount in combination with previous work at your site, and unfortunately we can only apply one discount to each customer. We have made sure Angie's List has revised the coupon so the information is clear and upfront for all of our customers, and we thank you for bringing it to our attention that the information hadn't been clear to begin with. While you weren't happy with the payment situation, we are glad to hear that the crew who performed the work did a great job. Please feel free to contact us with any additional concerns you may have."
"Member, thank you for the review! It's the little touches that set us apart. We're very happy to hear the walkway looked better than ever and that you were so pleased with our work on the tank removal. Our employees take great pride in what they do and it shows! We appreciate the referrals as well. Keep them coming!!"
"Thank you for your review member! We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We take great pride in the work we do, so we're very happy to hear how satisfied you are with the outcome. We like to leave your site looking just like it did before we arrived for the first time. Unfortunately with a leaking oil tank, depending on the extent of the leak, the cleanup process can sometimes be a lengthy one (luckily not always). But no matter how long it takes to get things resolved, we are here to help and guide homeowners in the right direction, and do everything we can for them during the process. We're glad to hear everything went smoothly at your site, and please don't hesitate to contact us if you ever need our services in the future."
This was a very stressful situation since my Proguard insurance would only cover this if damage was found on the tank. Also, the tank was located on the edge of my property flanked by my neighbor's driveway and only four feet of pavement next to my house.
They had to remove the shrubbery in the front and navigate the heavy steam shovel on a narrow strip and then back out to put the dirt in the dump truck. They accomplished this with no damage to the neighbor's property or my sidewalk. To accomplish this they cut the tank in half while it was in the ground so that it could be removed without damaging the surrounding concrete and asphalt If I want to quibble, the placement of the shrubs in front was a little off, but that's pretty minor.
The entire process took place on several different occasions and scheduling with me as well as two insurance companies was excellent.
While much of this was covered by insurance, Applied's pricing was closest to the amount that was covered and they did not charge me for the oil transfer or second trip. Other quotes I received had listed charges for this service.
"Thank you Member! We're happy to learn that we were able to make the process of a remediation as simple as possible for you. It can certainly be intimidating for a homeowner who has never been in this situation before. We're here to handle as much as we can for you so it's one less stress for you. We're glad everything worked out well. Thank you again for the review!"

"Thank you Member! We are glad your project was completed to your satisfaction. It was a pleasure dealing with you during this process. Please don't hesitate to contact us for anything additional you or someone you know might need. Thanks again!"
