George, Hilda and their workers were very polite and hard working. They worked fast and neat. We were delayed a couple times due to rain, but despite those delays which were outside our control. they got the work done before the Easter holiday. That was all I asked for.

Very happy with this contractor. They came when they said and finished on time. I read the review that the person with the chimney wrote and I can't imagine this happening. Hilda and George work great as a team and they responded immediately to my phone calls. I think I tend to be a bit pickey and I easily recommend them. No problems at all.

Project went great. They came when they said, perform the services exactly as the estimate detailed and finished when they said they would. I am 100% happy with the workmanship. Husband and wife make a terrific team. I read the one negative review concerning the chimney and I can't imagine it going down they way the reviewer claimed. I would absolutely recommend them.

From the outset, I made it clear that the surface of the extension had to be dead level with the older slab, and its edges nicely straight with those of the old. A few careful measurements after the concrete had set showed that they had got it exactly right.

We received several estimates to extend our chimney. We hired him because he was reasonably priced and was the only mason to follow-up after the estimate. What a huge mistake. It started when he charged me an additional $300 because they couldn't find the brick and had to have it shipped. The contractor cut the space for the chimney in our roof. Well, George decided to do his own cutting and cut (butchered really) a rafter tail which created all kinds of damage (as well as a leak). When my husband saw the damage he called George to ask why he did that. George went beserk and threatened to come over to our house and beat up my husband. I am 100% serious. So naturally we had to have the roof fixed by the contractor. When the chimney was inspected the inspector informed us that he extended the chimney 5 ft higher than was necessary. So we overpaid for that as well. When all was said and done, Hilda (the wife) actually wanted MORE money! It was the old bait and switch. They were lucky we even paid the 2nd half with all the damage they left us with. Every time it rains I still get water in my fireplace. We have to hire yet another mason to fix that problem. Also the chimney cap is mortared in permanetly so I have no idea how we are going to clean the chimney. They ended up costing us so much money. I am actually nervous posting this as George has already threatened us and he is a VERY angry, explosive man. He scares me. I would never let him near my house or family again and I would NEVER recommend him. Be very wary, they are very nice until you question his work. (The 2600.00 includes $2300.00 that we were quoted plus $300.00 for shipping. I did not include money spent for damages as that total is still ongoing.)

"You wouldnt have had a problem if you had hired a licenced and experienced carpenter to start your project. We would not have encountered such problem if (wanna be) carpenter had done his job and cut opening atleast 1" bigger than width of chimney, so our job could have been done correctly. Instead , we had to cut rafter (again we should not have had to) if carpentry had been done proffessionally. On another note: you have a leak because your 7-11 Roofer did not install flashing under shingles , We installed flashing on chimney and your roofer was supposed to come back and fix his project. Your chimney was built proffessionally and up to code and the height needed to aestethically look good!!!!! You are complaining about paying too much, Yet we were the most reasonable ( YOUR QUOTE) . Your complaining how we built your chimney taller than needed and you supposedly over paid us. Any and all extras were revealed prior to comencing work. You obviously have issues and it has nothing to do with us or your chimney . We carry ourselves in a proffessional and respectful manner. However when someone uses their authority to belittle and degrade our expertise , we will respond accordingly. However at no point was there any threats made. My advice to you , hire LICENCED and EXPERIENCED contractors for all your projects. Leave it to the proffessionals."

I recieved a quote on the work and we scheduled the work for about two weeks, while he finished a current job. No payment until the work was finished. He called Wednesday and said he could do the job early, the next day, due to a delay in his current project. Showed on Thursday, on time, and started demo, excavating and building forms. He got a call on a load of concrete that will be available that Thursday afternoon, he requested $700 to pay for load. This was the only money he requested before the job was finished. This is not unusual for small concrete pours. When concrete is ordered it is mixed and driven to the pour site. There is a limited time to get the concrete out of the truck. If there is left over concrete the drive has to get back to the concrete plant before it hardens. So if the drivers and masons all have contacts, so if a load is available and near where the truck is, the deal is struck. Otherwise, if you need less then a full truck, usually 10 cubic yards, you have to wait until Saturday, when they can combine several small jobs into one truck. Meanwhile back at job, so we got the concrete poured, he had to hustle to get the forms up. Left the walkway and pad to dry over the weekend, came back on Monday and put in the stairs. he had a warth-iron rail made for the steps, came back by the following Thursday to put in the rail. His wife came for the check that Saturaday. Oh by the way, he faced off about 30 feet of the front porch, gratis. He had some specialized concrete left over from a previous job and it was not enough to save and instead of throwing it out to leave laying around, he used it up. They did a great job and it has held up very well, so far. Geat guy to work with, prompt, did the work as contracted and then some, very neat and professional.

They were punctual and hard working. The owner stopped by several times to make sure the staff and his sons were working without any problems. The job took them approximately 4 days. I called them to let them know that they left the cones and some containers at our house and the materials were picked up a few days after my call. The bricks around the pool had a light cement haze, so I called Hilda and then they came back to clean it up. Whenever I needed a questions answered, I called the office or wrote an e-mail, and Hilda always responded.

Work was quick. If I remember correctly, they completed the job prior to estimated completion time. Some debris left behind, but we picked it up and now the grass is back and it looks good. On Halloween, neighbors we'd never met stopped to comment on the improvement. Plus, the cost was nearly half of the estimates we received prior to signing up for Angie's List. Almost $4000 savings for whatever the membership fee was is a pretty good deal. I wish I'd thought of it a few jobs earlier.

I think the job went very well. The people I spoke with at Pereira were very responsive, and they found time to do the job on my schedule. There was a minor hiccup during the job, but they let me know about it promptly and took full responsibility for fixing it. I would work with them again.

Wife, Hilda, answers the phone; very pleasant. Husband, George, comes out to estimate job; friendly and explains what needs to be done. (Came one day after my phone call). Crew of three came a few days later. Did a great job, had to put scaffolding up to get to top of chimney. Price was fair. Would use them again without question.

Called Mason, he came to give an estimate, showed up on time, got estimate that a day and contracted to start the job. He showed up on the day he said he would and set up the forms and poured the concrete that was Friday and he said he would be back on Monday to do the steps, and when I came home from work on Monday there were steps. The railing was put on that Friday. This crew worked very clean, and did a great job cleaning up the site. They even raked out the dirt around the front yard then disturbed during the construction. The price of the job was what he quoted, exactly. He did not want any money until the job was done. I did give money for the concrete, but the balance was paid after the job was complete, that was on Friday when the railing was put in. I will call him anytime I need masonry work done. I highly recommend him.

I called Pereira after seeing their truck in the area. Hilda and her husband met with us to review the work that needed to be done and sent us to a local stone yard to choose our replacement slate. We had to postpone the work for a few months and they were courteous about the delay. They took a lot of time explaining the process of leveling the path and the need for it to be a certain height due to the extreme pitch of our driveway. After going through lots of pictures, they were receptive to us giving them a layout to work with for slate placement-they followed it exactly. The job was done within a week.
