STONE AGE NYC

I went to Stone Age and picked out a stone to install. We agreed on a price of $1300 for removal and replaciment of the countertops. When they came to install the countertops, they changed the terms and indicated that the $1300 did not include removal of the old countertops. We had to pay another $100 in cash on the spot. Then when they installed the stone, there were many dark black stains in one part of the countertop. I did not observe those stains when I originally looked at the slab. When I called to ask if there anything they could do, Mario was rude and said that I must not have looked at the stone carefully and "he could not change what God has created" in the stone. After his guys came to look at it, they removed the stained slab (which was small- only 15" by 25") and replaced it. When they replaced it, they put a hole in my wall and left a 1/2" gap between the back splash and the wall. Now, about 2 months later, the sink that they installed dropped out of the countertop. These guys will give you a good price but do shotty work and are not professional. Do not use them.

They were very clear, communicative and responsive throughout the process. The fabricators (both partners) communicated with us via phone and email. They took me through the process so there were no surprises. They carefully installed the stone in the kitchen and even advised us on the stone we were choosing for our bathroom. While they did not choose it, they gave us valuable information that enabled us to make a smart decision. After the install, I noticed a slight stain on the stone that occurred in transport. They came the very next day and removed any trace of a mark. Mind you, they had already been paid in full and despite that, they still got right back to us. These guys are true professionals and really enjoy their work.

Mario returned my first call promptly, and was available to come to take measurements that same day. He came on time, and brought a sample of stone from the shop because I knew what type of marble I wanted already. He took the measurements, and called me back later that afternoon with a quote. I approved the quote, and he said he would have the counter top ready in 3 days because the stone was on site. Wow! I was not ready for him so quickly because my sinks had not yet arrived. I scheduled a later date, and two installers came and did the job quickly, neatly, and to my great satisfaction.
