DVE & Sons

In our opinion, working with DVE & Sons (owner Dave Slurzberg) was, quite possibly, the worst experience of our lives. In the year (yes, year!) that it took him to complete 2 floors of our brownstone, we went through h*** simply trying to communicate with him and get simple answers to simple questions. Sadly we found out too late that DVE & Sons was taking advantage of us in every way possible: double and, sometimes, triple charging us, blaming us for every delay (when they were clearly delays on the contractor's part) and not agreeing to weekly meetings or supplying lists so that we could buy correct fixtures, etc . We feel cheated by DVE & Sons and wouldn't trust him to fix an out of place nail at this point. We agreed to work with DVE & Sons on the advice of our architect after our first contractor made some big errors. DVE & Sons charged nearly twice what other contractors would have charged but we we believed that he would complete the job beautifully and timely (I was due to have a baby 7 months after we hired him). All we got was the worst attitude ever, massive overcharging and we had to bring our newborn home to a construction site. I would warn anyone, anywhere before working with DVE & Sons. We've spoken to other clients of his and have heard similar horror stories.
