We have been going to this hospital for years, through multiple generations of pets. I have always felt that we were treated fairly, and the doctors take care to explain our options. The last time I was there my 4 year old dog was vomiting and listless, and the doctor was really patient with us through all our questions. We had a plan in case the initial medicines did not work, and we felt as comfortable as we could given the fact that our family member was ill. I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

My last visit here was fine. I've been taking my cats to Animal Hospital of Jersey City for about four years now for routine care, and I'm generally satisfied with the care they have received. I also appreciate that the vets here did not hesitate to refer me to a specialist elsewhere when one of my cats developed cancer. The cost for a basic exam is reasonable, about $60, although the add-ons can mount up quickly. The receptionists are great about squeezing you in when you call an hour before closing time with something that needs immediate attention.
My one complaint about Animal Hospital of Jersey City would apply to a lot of veterinary practices in the area: Most of the doctors on staff seem to be relatively young and only stay for a few years, so odds are your pet will see a new vet each time. The vets who treated my cat for cancer were extremely responsive and professional, and I wish they were still my cats' health providers, but they have since moved on to other positions.

have used this Animal Hospital for 4 years. It was fine for run of the mill check ups and routine problems. It was when my pet became terminally ill that I realized it was more about the money then the comfort of my pet and myself. The first sign was when my pet became ill and needed to take medication. I spent close to $900 for blood work, sedation and various tests. The recommended treatment was antibiotics. They had the nerve to charge me $5 for a little piece of plastic syringe to shoot the pill in the mouth. Then, after spending over $3000.00 and misdiagnosing my pets illness, someone had the nerve to call me after two weeks and say they didn't bill me for an $89 test they claim they did. They never even asked how my pet was doing. That was it. Their prices are high. It's all about the estimate and the bill. I wish I would have got a second opinion.

They are well overpriced - feels like its all about the money. Provided a long list of medications - not all of which were really necessary. One of the vets actually named one of my dogs as a slightly different breed then she is. Staff are efficient, but not very friendly. I am now paying to transport my pets to another vet eventhough this is the nearest vet to me.

Dr. Thorton listened to us talk about our dog, and diagnosed our dog with separation anxiety and prescribed drugs, which is unfortunate, but our dog is a lot calmer. We also have had really good experiences with the other vets at the hospital. Everyone is really nice, knowledgeable and really cares for the animals. Our dog (Rory) is a really nervous dog and they do everything they can to make her feel a bit more relaxed. . .

We have used this vet many times in the past and have always been very satisfied with the service and the caring of their doctors. The front desk is very respectful and always works well with us. The prices are a little high, but this does not stop us from using them and we will continue to do so.

I have always used this hospital for our dog over the years and this doctor and his staff are some of the best people we have ever found. They are very courteous, extremely professional, and the way they handled our transition into not having our dog anymore was something we will always be thankful for. I highly recommend their services.

The place was clean and my cats were returned to me in good health and smelling clean. The people there are very nice and we had no problem reserving a time for them when we called. I would recommend them to others and will use them again in the future.

The vets here take very good care of the animals. The staff are very good at calming frightened animals and treating them as gently as possible. They are very thorough in checking for and treating all health problems. Last year one of our dogs got a deep cut on his paw that required stitches and they did such a good job that he doesn't even have a scar.

Ended up here after a bad experience with another vet. They are great with my very difficult cat who struggles whenever she is due for a shot. They wrap her up in a towel to restrain her and always try to calm her down. We've been going to them for 3 years now. Receptionist is sometimes grumpy, but it is well worth the visit.

THIS COMPANY WAS REASONABLE. WHEN I FIRST CALLED I GOT AN APPOINTMENT RIGHT AWAY. THE PRICE WAS ALSO REASONABLE AND WAS WHAT I EXPECTED. THEY STAYED WITHIN THE ESTIMATE.
