Rick called back the same day and came out for an estimate. He took the time to explain the process of what needs to be done with putting down the pavers. The project took 3 days as promised. I couldn't have asked for a better experience with RMS. I will be using them again for the backyard. Very pleased with the service and finished product.

Very courteous and helpful with suggestions while we were considering what work to do and the costs involved. Workers completed job quicker than expected, once the work began, and the quality was exceptional.

They went out of their way to correct problems that were discovered once work began at no extra cost. No problems during construction, very neat work and prompt clean-up of debris. The yard looks great.

They were great.  Rich (the owner) was very responsive.  Came in at a great cost.  We had two other estimates and they came in lowest plus with good reviews from Angie's list, it was the right choice.  He gave us a design book to get ideas but then suggested to look at them in person before ordering.  I"m glad we did because I wouldn't have chosen the color we went with based off the book pictures.  They had to reschedule one day due to the weather but they finished the whole job in one day. They were neat and cleaned up after themselves.  He was a very nice guy. Good warranty as well.  We'd use them again for sure! 

They did a great job and I would recommend them in a heartbeat. When they give you a date, they stick to that and do not try to multitask with other jobs. Very professional company and the quality of their work was outstanding. We have already used them again.

Rick, his son and crew did an amazing job from start to finish. Rick was there every step of the way from the design phase to the actual installation. His crew took their time and ensured it was done perfectly. They were all very professional and the work they did was clean and precise. Everything looks beautiful, we cannot believe how much better our house looks.
Rick was fantastic to work with, he kept us informed of his schedule, and gave us great advice as to the layout.  He gave us a plan for us to review, and kept us from making a bad decision with the color pavers we had initially chosen.
The work was completed in 2 days, and they completely cleaned up and straightened up everything, including the surrounding  landscaping, as well as graded and seeded the ground leading out from the path.
We will definitely be using RMS next year when we are ready to work on our backyard.

They are fast, punctual, and profesional.

Extremely pleased with the work performed by Rick Sr / Rick Jr and crew. The owners / crew are complete hardscaping professionals and are reliable, knowledgeable and responsive throughout the process. The process started with Rick Sr providing a detailed estimate/measurements/diagram for the patio, which I did not get with other installers I had talked to. Also, Rick Sr offered to help on various landscaping odds and ends at reasonable prices.
Though the job started with a few days delay related to other job backups due to heavy rains, Rick Jr and his crew arrived on time each day and were focused on getting the job done through the day. No slackers here, Rick Jr is a very hands-on partner and did as much work as the crew. Also, he provided various good suggestions which we had not thought about earlier. The end product was excellent and the crew made sure that the job site was cleaned up before they left.
I also appreciate that they were able to accommodate couple of last minute additions even though it meant coming back next day after job completion. I highly recommend RMS and Son !

They all fell.  I call them 5 or 6 times and left messages and they never called back.  I had to get someone else to come and do it for me so I had to pay twice.  In the past they used to be good but they are getting worse.

Computer design I was given took into consideration my suggestions as well as his experienced suggestions, it was just what I wanted! I did comparison shopping and found that RUMS and SON LANDSCAPE DESIGN was very competitive.
All calls were returned promptly, there was never any pressure and was completed in a timely manner, taking the weather into consideration (Super Storm Sandy).

Good work conditions with reliable, honest, experienced crew. Work schedule pinched by weather and pre scheduled vacation time however no shortcuts taken. Further final road clean up would have made a very good job, fantastic.

I was intrigued by their highly competitive upfront square foot prices quoted on their web site and exceptional review by earlier Angies List member and made an appointment with the owner Rick on 4/15/2012.
Rick spent almost 2 hours with us and made on the spot professional drawings on the graph paper and gave us the estimates for the both front and rear patio work including two sets of steps for the rear patio for the total of $9291. The price quote was highly competative and much better than the quotes we had gotten earlier from 3 other vendors. Rick was the most detailed and professional in giving us the estimates and explaining everything than others with much higher quotes and that was enough to convince us to go with him right away.
Unfortunately, RMS was booked for the next 6 weeks and so we had to wait until the end of may for the work to begin. RMS is very punctual and they were delayed just by 3 - 4 days due to heavy rains in the spring months and Rick kept us notified for the likely date the work was to begin.
Rick Junior was always on the site for the next 3 days while Rick Senior was also there time-to-time. The whole crew was highly professional and did everything from beginning to end in a professional manner and left the place looking absolutely clean.
After the patio was almost done, I requested if Rick could do the landscaping for us too and he gave us 25% off with the total price of just $2300 since his crew was already there on the job and they did a great job. The entire project was finished in just 3 days.
My front and back of the house now looks totally transformed and we are extremely happy with the way everything turned out. Rick also gave us 3 year labor warranty on patio with lifetime product warranty and one year warranty on landscaping.
I will certainly use RMS again for our future hardscaping/landscaping needs and will not hesitate to recommend him to anyone else for this type of work.

My first contact with RMS and Son was for a planning session. We talked about what our general concept was and what kind of look we wanted. We exchanged suggestions and worked together to come up with a plan. One thing I liked very much was that we worked together in a collaborative process. The next stage was to wait for a cost estimate. This did not take to long. The price quoted us was very fair and competitive for what we thought was an extensive amount of work. We picked a start date, with the understanding that any days his crew is rained out would add to our start date. RMS and Son was in touch with us frequently by phone, and kept us up to speed on how the schedule was being affected by the weather. I am a stickler on being able to communicate with the people I work with so I was very pleased with how we kept in touch. Once our start date arrived the crew showed up and things started happening very quickly. There is always an owner on site. This is another big plus that we love. The crew is hard working and a real nice bunch of guys. They are neat, considering what is involved in demolishing a cement patio. They all know just what their job is and are well co-ordinated with each other. Watching them confirmed in my mind that they know what they are doing and are good at what they do. The front of the house involved a complete new look which meant that everything out front needed to be removed except for a red maple that I love very much. They did an expert job. The design that RMS came up with is wonderful. It makes my home look bigger and more attractive. I also love the fact that we had several conversations about how I was to care for the new landscaping in the front of my house, as well as the proper way to care for our new paver patio. This job is a major upgrade for our home. The guys at RMS worked very hard. The job took less time than I imagined it would. I would hire this company again without even the slightest hesitation. We will enjoy the new look of the front and back of our home for many years. We both feel very strongly that the cost of this large project was well worth it. RMS clearly knows what customer service is and its refreshing to have done business with them.

We found this company in the local Rt. 9 Shopper magazine. What we liked was that his ad spelled out the different packages with pricing (unlike his competition) and his estimate was free. The owner Rick, arrived right on time and literally spent 2 hours talking to us, showing us his work and sketching out our design. Normally we get more than one estimate, but we felt so comfortable with him that we booked right away. Their payment schedule is 10% deposit, 40% at start of job and 50% at completion. He told us that he is always close to schedule and the only thing that can delay them is rain. We booked in May for an opening on June 21, but because of a very rainy June, we were pushed back a week. We were lucky that he had an opening right before our kids joint birthday party. His company was booked solid from March all the way thru September (they do work right into December). He sent us to his supplier Pantino's Nursery in Freehold to pick our stone color and either Lowe's or Home Depot to pick out the lighting. If the lighting exceeds $100, you pay the difference otherwise it is included in the package.

All materials were delivered at the curb 3 days before the job started and the crew of seven arrived promptly at 8am and began working (when the days get hotter, they actually start at 7am). They worked the whole day from 8am until around 5pm. The owner Rick and his son Rick Jr. (co-owner) were there at the start and Rick Jr. was on-site for the entire job which lasted two full days. The job started with the removal of the grass and dirt and by the end of the day, the patio, sitting walls and pillars were installed! On the second day, the lighting was installed, the flower bed mulched, the two sprinkler heads moved, the fire pit built and the sod and seeding done. During the entire job not one crew member needed anything or even asked to use our restroom! The seeding around the patio would normally be acceptable, except we were having a party in a few days and it would be muddy and ruin the seed. Without hesitation, Rick purchased another pallet of sod and laid it at his own expense!

Our guests were in awe at the quality and speed which the job was done. Many of our guests are in various trades and know quality work when they see it. When we have the money to do other landscaping, he is our guy!
