Excellent! He had to special order my hot water heater due to the very short height of my basement and the space limitations of removing exhuast down there. So my water heater was more expensive than a 'normal' one. But I knew this ahead of time. Dan is always a pleasure to deal with. He is always on top of things. He is the sole owner/operator so you are always getting your service done by him - a master plumber.
My previous gas water heater (the one that was damaged by the hurricane) was installed by a Mr. Rooter franchise in Freehold. That was a complete fiasco. VERY bad experience. I usually hire Dan, but in that case I went to Mr. Rooter to save a few bucks. I ended up regretting it. So post-Sandy, when it was appearent the water heater had to be replaced, I learned my lesson last time and went back to Dan/ProService Plumbing. It was much easier, stress free experience. And Dan pointed out to me several errors the Mr. Rooter plumbers had made during the first installation. Also turns out the corner in my basement is not level and Dan molded a cement pad on my floor that made it level.
Dan does alot of work in Ocean Grove. I have several people in my neighborhood that use him too. He is very pleasant, uses plain-language to explain what needs to be done, shows up on time, and meets his commitments. Yes he costs a bit more, but he's worth it.

On a nasty Saturday morning at the start of a long holiday weekend, I was unpleasantly surprised to discover I had no hot water. I called ProService around noon. Dan called me back within 30 minutes. After telling him that I could find nothing visibly wrong with the water heater (no puddles) he suggested that it might just be the pilot was out and did I want to try that first. I did not want to fool with it myself and said I'd prefer if he could come check it out. He was at my house within 50 minutes. He took the burner out and cleaned everything, replaced the thermocoupler and relit the pilot. Done. Hot water again. I was thrilled that he came so quickly on a day that I don't believe he normally works.

I discovered that my furnace wasn't working due to a flooded basement. Called him at 9 pm on Friday night. He called back within 30 minutes and was at my house the next morning with a giant pump. He pumped out a tremendous amount of water, got the furnace and hot water heater up and running again and then came back two days later and installed a new sump pump when I wasn't home and mailed me a bill. No further problems in that department. More recently, a purchase of a new oven necessitated the gas pipe be moved. The job was almost impossible and required someone to crawl under the house into a very tight and convoluted area to put in a new pipe. Not only was the job accomplished but I was not home at the time. He cleaned up after himself and you would never know that such a difficult job had been performed. My retired neighbors who watched him go in and out of the house and under the house all day long said that whatever amount he charged for the job - he earned it!
