The project went perfectly, see above for additional detail.

He did not do the kind of work he promised to do. He sent sub contractors and did not check what they did. The quality of the workmanship was unacceptable and after many confrontations and opportunities to fix the work we asked him to leave since he proved time and again that he was unable to do the job well. We took pictures to prove how bad the work was and we had to hire someone else to fix and finish the job.

We contacted them and received a callback right away. We set up an appointment for just a few days out. The reason this is noteworthy is that this was shortly after the Hurricane. At that time, there were many firms that were demanding a deposit before even making an appointment, and their appointments were more than a week away.
Anyway, "Ziggy" came out when I wasn't home and contacted me with an estimate just a couple hours later. We adjusted it, and then made an appointment for about 10 days out.
On the day of the appointment, an unmarked pickup truck arrived in the driveway. Unmarked, but it was them. The job took several hours. It was completed with good quality material and with them making several adjustments due to unusual characteristics of my house. They even convinced me that one aspect of the job that I was willing to pay extra for wasn't needed.
So they were very easy to deal with, and they did high quality work with good materials.

There were a few bumps in the road but overall the project went well. I was having hardwood flooring installed at the same time and the flooring contractor and Pelka working around each other's schedule was the issue but we got through it.

I couldn't have asked for a better experience! From start to finish, this was probably the smoothest home improvement project we've done. From my initial e-mail requesting information through to the end, Ziggy was very prompt with replies to my e-mails. He came out and explained the project, answered all my questions, and brought samples of the materials they would be using.

Pelka's estimate was the lowest for what we wanted done, which was to replicate the entire 2-story box with the exact same design, just in the Azek material. (A 2nd estimate we received for exactly what we wanted was almost twice Pelka's estimate.) We received 2 estimates that were lower; however, one wanted to use siding to just cover the area, and the other only wanted to replace half of the box and leave the other half as-is.

The 2 men who did the work were very polite and cleaned up the entire work area at the end of every day. The work took about 2 1/2 days, and we've had a number of neighbors stop by and ask about the job since they have the same issues.

I have already recommended Pelka Construction to a number of people and would absolutely call them for future projects!

Their crews were always on time and courteous. It was one of our best experiences with a contractor and we are not rookies, having built or renovated several homes in our time. I would recommend Pelka to anyone seeking an honest and reasonable estimate along with professionalism and quality on the implementation side.

They were timely, professional and knowledgeable. They definitely seemed to have it all together, and we were very impressed with the reps that they sent out.
