Ken was easy to work with, always returned my calls and came out to the property to go over the job. He started the work a week after I told him I wanted his services.  His workers were always on time and did an excellent job.  They did exactly what I wanted.  It cost $1700.00 per day for three workers at 8 to 9 hours per day.  The job really opened up my land and made my yard, which backs up to woods, look like a park. I will be using K and L later this year to install a fence.  I would definitely recommend K and L to family and friends and will use them again in the future.

It went generally well. I would like to have seen the top soil packed down more evenly. But the new grass came up nicely especially considering the work was done in mid October.Very nice company to do business with. They said they will return in the Spring to fill in empty spots.

Kenny was very personable and very knowledgeable. It was a great price. They came right away. I liked them a lot. They had one of the better prices that I got. The owner stayed the whole time. I would absolutely use them again.

It started off great.  The workers were careful about our concerns about the surrounding landscape and were safety conscious throughout the process.  The trouble began when several trees, which we were told would be removed by having a workmen climb them and cut them down, couldn't be removed this way.  The worker climbed the tree and did not feel safe so the crew wanted to bring in their equipment (cherry picker) to take down these particular trees.  Doing this would involve, we were told, to dig up 3 bushes and cut down one hemlock tree.  We wanted to speak with the owner Ken so the workers called him.  They told us they would take an early lunch and he would be there to consult with us when they returned.  They returned but Ken didn't show up.  My husband called him at 12:30 and was told he would be there in an hour.  I called at 2:00 and was told by Ken that he would be there in an hour.  Meanwhile the workers wanted to start working so we gave them permission to dig up the aforementioned bushes and cut down the one hemlock.  They did that.  As they were bringing in their equipment they realized that another tree would have to go (a maple) in order to get in close enough to do the job.  What could we do?  We said okay.  We were also told that the large bushes would lose a few limbs but would be okay.  Actually one bush was completely removed.  When the owner returned at the end of the day we were told that he had been at a conference in NYC and was stuck at the train station most of the day.  Why he repeatedly told us he would be at our home in our hour we don't understand.  My husband noticed that the grinding of the stumps went about 4 inches below ground.  We had specifically asked Ken to grind them 12 to 18  inched as we were planning to plant decorative trees (like dogwoods) where each of the other trees had been removed.  When Ken told his workers that they had to redo that part of the job they were very unhappy and from that point on quite unpleasant to both my husband and myself.  They even threatened to walk off the job ken later told us. The job was declared "finished" by Ken the next day.   We had paid him $3400. halfway through the job and Ken wanted the remaining $2500.   We claimed the job wasn't complete because of damages that had been done to our property.  We went over them with him.  They included:  clean/scrub oil stains on concrete driveway and  pavers, replant 3 arborvitae trees by road, replace 2 12' hemlocks (one they took down another their machinery knocked down), plant ivy inside semi-circle of driveway, plant pachysandra by front lawn,  plant myrtle between tool shed and garage, replant run over box bushes and wood putty the holes and rehang planter on the deck.  There was other damage such as the caulking in between the driveway concrete slabs had been pulled up by the tires of their trucks and ground into the concrete(it was over 100 degrees several days and we were surprised they were working at all).  We told Ken we would recaulk the driveway (which we felt was very generous of us).  We expected some damage with our lawn cover but the amount of damage spread over many square feet  not just around the bottoms of the trees.  Ken claimed that this work was not part of the contract and again demanded payment.  He told us he would take care of everything else at a later date.  He was so upset and angry with us that I decided to pay him in full (both payments were made in cash) and trust that he would return to complete the job.  He did return.   However, despite my watering the hemlocks daily they began to die.  On further inspection I found that the trees had a large pocket of air underneath both.  The trees didn't fit in the holes that were dug. We don't know if the workers were incompetent or just spiteful.  Also the ivy was never planted but simply placed on the ground.  It, of course, dried up and died.    The 3 arborvitae were never replaced and the box bushes were not taken care of either.  I have spoken to Ken about some of these issues but I'm tired of his excuses and saying that it's my fault that the trees are dying so I have to just let it go.  I would not want to work with these people again,
