Landscape & Patio Design by Burdwood's

Mark Burdwood has done a lot of work for us in the Hamilton and Princeton area, so when we relocated to Florida and wanted to install a large patio, there was no one else we would hire but him. He is on the pricier side but well worth it to have a quality job completed the way we want and on time. Not only does Mark do the designing, he is on site doing the work as well so no errors are made.  This is important, as before we learned of Burdwood's, we had hired another company to install a paver driveway and retaining wall. The foreman left and the workers were not doing exactly what we wanted, but without the foreman present, we were unable to communicate with them.  That's not an issue with this company.  We receive many compliments on our patio and enjoy evenings gathered around the fire pit.  We highly recommend Landscape & Patio Design by Burdwood's!

Mark was originally recommended to us by our regular landscaper who cleans up our yard once or twice a year (who I also love).  She recommended him to do a patio off our rear deck.  Mark is careful, patient, and thoughtful about his designs.  He has lots of ideas and obviously wants his final work to look excellent and last.  He's a talker...but he knows what he's talking about.  And he's a hard worker.  He showed up when he said he would, finished the work on time, and it looks great (that was done over a year ago).  In speaking with him during that project, it became clear that his true passion is plants.  He knows a lot about plants - Mark is extremely knowledgeable about plant species, sizes, conditions, where they grow best, native vs non-native, etc.  Our home's beds were overgrown, weedy, and in need of major assistance.  Mark helped design a plan that allowed us to use trees from other parts of the yard (he moved a Japanese maple from the back of our house to a place of honor in the front).  He helped us save from rhododendrons that were overgrown and sad-looking in the front because they were in a much too sunny spot for them (we moved them to a shady corner in the back yard in a new bed).  And then we took out a bunch of the overgrown stuff, some dieing trees, and some horrible, prickly shrubs that we hated that had been in the front beds for decades and replaced them with new trees and shrubs, all natives, since that's what we wanted, and all placed in spots right for them.  The final results are great.  We're going to be adding some more perennials in the spring to fill in some empty spots.  He also put some shrubs and grasses along the side of our lot to help build a better boundary between us and our neighbors.  He was creative in his selection of plants and used some I'd never seen before.  I love the results.
