Tutoring
Now the class that she takes is character-based only and is completely submersed in Chinese. All of the classes are immersion classes. Pinyin can be very repetitive (how Chinese is spelled with English characters) and confusing since some of the words are represented the same way, but can mean something different and are represented by different characters. The grownups learn with Pinyin, but my daughter learns to write a couple of characters every week.
She learns songs, vocabulary, and plays games. She has home where she learns to write the characters and to learn the vocabulary each week. The children quiz one-another. It?s a very encouraging environment and esteem-building where the children get a sense of accomplishment. The teachers are great.
I have taken the adult classes so that I can support my daughter?s learning. They have a more structured curriculum with the book. For any adult going to the school there is immersion.
When I first spoke with the director, she said that her goal was to create and community for her son, and so this wonderful school of learning has grown. When I came to Hoboken I looked at one other school that was teaching languages, but they didn?t have the same energy I was looking for. At Mandarin Together Fun the energy is reflected in the passion and the fun.
The billing depends on age, I think. Tuition is based, I think on the student level and on the program. Right now, we?re in summer camp that is offered full day or half day for five days a week. During the school year, my daughter goes one day a week.
