"Unfortunately this potential client is misinformed. This is the only way I can respond without suggesting his review is a lie because its simply not factually accurate. He hired an architect. He would not take the recommendation to not add onto the existing structure as he was already over the allotted zoning requirements. We worked with the architect to submit the plans to zoning and the building department. The architect and myself had several email exchanges and phone calls to both the city and to the homeowner. The zoning officer was unresponsive. We tried several times. This township had a part time zoning official. We spoke to the construction official to push it along. He said we need to speak to zoning. We went back to waiting for zoning. All the while updating the homeowner and going through all the risks, issues, etc associated with the approach he chose. Note, this was taking a lot of my time, the architect's time and by the way my team's time for submitting this to the building department. All at no cost to the homeowner. We were doing all this because we thought the project was going to move forward and we were trying to fast-track it for the homeowner given he was in such a 'rush'. He also dismissed environmental concerns on the job that I personally identified to him. When the results came back from zoning that he couldn't do what he wanted and the pricing of the project was over his budget - which we were telling him all along, he was upset and chose not to hire us. At this point we asked the building department to remove our name from the permit application. Yes, its a legal matter and we are obliged to do this. This homeowner wants to use my name, my plumber, my electrician to do the renovation and hire uninsured / non-registered labor to do his project while my name is on the hook. Give me a break. A very experienced contractor once told me the secret to his success had something to do with the projects he didn't take. I can only be thankful we didn't move forward with this project."
"I honestly have no idea what this homeowner is talking about. I can only suggest he has us confused with someone else. I met him for a hole in his ceiling in the kitchen. A bathroom was never discussed. Not sure what contractor he is referring to because it isn't my company."
"I can count on one hand how many appointments over 9-years I've missed. In fact, I can count on one hand how many appointments I've been late for without first notifying the client. I respect my customer's time and expect them to respect my time as well. If I'm running 15 minutes late, I typically call. He is correct, I did miss the Saturday morning appointment. I called him first thing on Monday morning explaining that I had a family emergency. I explained that I could not call him on Saturday as I was in a hospital. He seemed to understand on the phone when we spoke. I asked if he wanted to reschedule and he said he would call me. This review is the response I get from him. Really?"
