Permits were applied for and crew showed up on 1/18 to start repair work. Concrete floor saw cut and excavation located broken waste line which was replaced (12-13' long) along with cleanout outside of home that day. Martin and his crew returned on 1/19 to meet with inspector and oversee masonry work to ensure everything completed. While here, Martin took the time to replace some old shut off valves that concerned him as they were either just old (1976 construction) or quite old and appeared to be leaking at outside spigot. A new toilet was installed and all work completed on day 2.
Martin and his crew took great care of us making sure that we knew exactly what was wrong, how it needed to be repaired, and ensured quality mason was used to cut and access the repair. He also was great in addressing needs of homeowner's insurance company for reimbursement and recommended several contractors who could be used to replace a tile floor damaged during the repair process.
We have used Noll & Sons in the past for a sewer line replacement at a different property and for a burst pipe emergency repair during the polar vortex of 2013. We have always found them to be on time and on cost. When it comes to plumbing needs, there's no one else we'll call. Truly a top notch outfit that makes sure things are taken care of the right way following a good plan.
The plumber from Paul Noll & Son arrived approximately on time, and found the problem with the leak under my kitchen sink quickly. The time it took to replace the faucet seemed reasonable. My only issue was that he arrived at my house a 2:25, but the time he charged me on the invoice started at 2 PM. I do not feel that charging travel time was ethical, but unfortunately I did not realize the problem until several days later when I took a closer look at the bill. It taught me a good lesson, always check the bill prior to writing the check, for if I had I would have disputed the start time.
Company rep showed up right on time with all hardware and supplies. Wall needed to be sawed through and I was advised of process throughout. Work was neat and service was highly professional. I have used this business a number of times over the past few months for both electrical upgrades and plumbing fixture replacements and in all cases work was done in a timely, professional manner.
"We were called out to check on a leaking water heater. I was out to look at water heater within an hour of call as customer stated it was an emergency. I looked at job and told customer that they needed to replace the water heater. I explained to the customer that this was not a standard replacement, as there were a few items that needed to be addressed as required by njsp code. The smoke pipe had to be upgraded to a larger size and re-installed into chimney and a shut off valve needed to be installed because there was no existing valve. I explained this to customer before work was done and she agreed to proceed with work. I then cancelled jobs already scheduled for that day so i could install water heater so they wouldn't be with out hot water and there would not be any damage done to basement from leaking water heater. After job was complete the customer seemed satisfied and happy with my work. I explained that we would file the permit that day and once the permit was ready we would pick up permit and mail it to them so they could schedule inspection with township. Once permit was ready we picked up and paid for it and we mailed permit card to homeowner and called and spoke with owners husband stating that they needed to schedule inspection. I did not receive any phone calls or emails from customer about inspection. I only recently received a call about a leak near water heater in which homeowner thought the new water heater was leaking. I responded promptly and examined leak, i found that the leak was not the water heater but was coming from the furnace. I asked the husband if he would like me to repair that and he said he would take care of it. I did not charge a service call for diagnosing leak. While I was there i asked if water heater was inspected and he said he never received anything and thought the town would call him. I explained to him that they needed to call town to schedule inspection. Today, October 7 2014 the owner of our company hand delivered a copy of the permit and scheduled inspection for water heater. When I arrived at job the first time I explained everything to the homeowner from the pricing to the permit process. If i was unclear about either I apologize for the miscommunication, my main concern at the time was the plumbing emergency that needed to be addressed promptly. As for the cost of the job we charge the same price for all standard water heater replacement plus any additional costs. Our standard installation includes new water heater, permit filing fee, removal, and chimney certifcation. As stated above there were additional items that needed to be addressed which made the cost higher. When talking to "other local plumbers" i wouldn't be sure they were aware of extra work involved, the work on these jobs vary from job to job depending on the different variables. I take pride in my work and in my business, in no way do we take advantage of our customers weather they are a senior or not. I am always available to answer any questions or issues. If there was anything that was unclear or if you have any additional questions I would be more than happy to go over it with you."
"I was called to repair/ replace a leaking hose bib. This job was not a simple repair as piping for hosebib was in basement ceiling with no access. I worked quickly and efficiently to make repair and install new hosebib. The time of the job lasted a little over an hour. We price these jobs by the hour and if job goes in to the second hour which includes our travel time then we charge for the second hour. We had done work for this customer before when they had an emergency so i thought they were familiar with our pricing. I should have reviewed pricing with customer at beginning of job but i was focused on getting the job done. The price we charged was for labor and material which was a pretty competitive cost for the work that was done. I apologize for not going over cost of job with you and will be sure to give you a price before any future jobs."
We asked him to look at a few electrical outlets while he was here and he made a few adjustments and repairs, giving us some advice for other non-essential repairs we may choose to do later. We were charged for one hour labor and $2.00 in parts. We will definitely call them again if needed.
We called on a Thursday morning. He was able to come the next morning to see what the issue was. He arrived on time and although he wasn't able to fix the problem, he took the time to thoroughly go over what could be the issue. We appreciated his efforts on our behalf. It was more than anyone had done previously. We would use him again, and recommend him highly to anyone.
It would've been better if the plumber told us he couldn't fix it after an inspection, and charged much less, or actually stopped the problem from occurring for at least a respectable amount of time.
"We were called out to check a leak in the ceiling. After investigating leak our tech explained to homeowner that the leak was not a plumbing issue rather a caulking or grouting issue. He had to cut a hole in ceiling to see where leak was coming from and left hole in ceiling to air out any moisture that had been in ceiling. Our tech also explained to homeowner that he should leave ceiling open to prevent the spread of any mold growing due to moisture and water that had leaked there. He also gave him a few recommendations to get a carpenter/ tile guy to come in a repair grout and caulking where leak was coming from. Tech explained this all to homeowner before leaving and homeowner had no complaint at that time. We are a Plumbing company not a tile repair company, once we found that it was not a plumbing issue that is when we recommended you get a tile guy to make needed repair. We were called to check a leak and we did so in a timely and professional manner."
