These guys are very dirty individulas who take no precautious to protect owners property. They don't take responsibility for their actions and they don't work to code. Buyer beware...not worth it.

I had to finish the job. I ended up having to order the part, have it shipped in, and install it myself. They need to show up and be clean. He left dirt all over my house. It was an emergency situation, where the hot water was running, and I needed somebody to come in a hurry, which he did. I wasn't happy with his cleanliness. He left dirt all over my bathroom. I wasn't happy with the high price that he charged me. It was very expensive. Most of the time, while being charged by the hour, he was sitting on his ass talking to his buddy. He was trying to figure out what my faucet type was, which as a long time plumber, he should've known by looking at it. I think he took me for a ride.
The best part of the job was that he partially fixed the problem so that the water wouldn't run anymore.

Mike Colby replaced my hot water heater.  He overslept and arrived late.  It took him all day to complete this job - I'm talking 7 hours on a Saturday from start to finish.  He talks nonstop while he's working.  He made a huge mess in my home and didn't properly clean up.  I just wanted him out of my house so I cleaned up myself and also had to return some tools that he left scattered about my kitchen. He asked me to leave them in his mailbox - didn't even offer to pick them up.  I would not recommend Colby Plumbing.  Best part is, this hot water heater lasted only two years - Colby would not come back to replace it and I wound up calling A.J.Perri who did a fine job installing another new hot water heater and it's guaranteed for ten years!

Entered basement with large snake. Purged sewer pipes some 75 ft. to the street, checked for leaks. Excellent job of cleaning up.

They were professional and they did what they needed to do. It wasn't a huge project. They repaired the leak. It was a very tight crawl space. They had to bring in guy who was kind of small. It was kind of expensive but not a lot more than what I thought it was going to be. They were here for a couple of hours.

Colby arrived within a day as promised, and at the time promised. They worked efficiently, and solved the leak problem. They investigated alternate means of adding heat ducts and the additional cost would have been prohibitive. I did not get alternate quotes, so I can't say if the fee was fair or not, but it seemed a bit high, considering the amount of work involved. We have not had leaking problems in this area since. Overall, I'm satisfied.

Mike arrived with his apprentice and both did parts of the job, the apprentice working on the outside faucet and Mike on the bathroom faucet. Mike had to leave to get a new bathroom faucet, as the one that was there had sustained freezing damage over the winter and was not usable. After returning with the new bathroom faucet, which cost $155 (more than I had thought it would cost), he installed it without a problem. He cleaned up fairly well. Both faucets have worked fine since then. I was surprised by the overall cost and would strongly recommend getting an estimate prior to any work in the future.

We were frantic to find a plumber and put a few calls out but no one was getting back to us. Colby got back to us right away and came out to fix it the next few days. We will call him first the next time we have a plumbing problem but we hope it's not too soon!

Owner comes in with an apprentice at the agreed time.
Touring Mr. Colby around the numerous 'projects' that we want him to work on in the future (we have a old house), we stress that IF there is a quick fix to the leak in the master bathroom, he can fix it. Otherwise don't bother since we're soon going to remodel the bathroom completely. He could than just focus on the guest shower that is also leaking and that will not be remodeled. we'll then use the guest bathroom until we start the bathroom renovation project. Btw, I have to provide him a lightbulb since his lightbulb in his tool is broken.
In order to find out more about the problem he cuts three holes in the sheetrock. Diagnose is that it is probably the drain and he makes it seem as a quick fix. He says they're going for lunch and will then also get the piece that is broken.
Two hours later(!) they return saying that it was a special piece that they couldn't find anywhere. Not sure why, as this is a standard tub). He fits the piece into place with his apprentice. To do so he already asks for a second light bulb since he has again broken his light.
By that time he says he's finished with the first project, although he warns us that the bath tub may still leak as the tiles along the wall seem to leak too. He doesn't fix the holes in the sheet rock. He wants to start on the second project, but by that time it is quite late to start a project. Until that point i'm not impressed with speed and the fact that we apparently need to get someone else to fix the sheetrock, but ok.
Then he wants to 'sit down' for the invoice. As during the earlier part of the day the guy keeps talking about everything else. Here's where he lost me completely. Although i know his price range from Angies list, i was not aware of the $80 ph that i'm paying for his apprentice who is litterally sitting next to him learning on the job. It basically means that looking for a piece for the pipes suddenly cost me 2x$160 = $320. The project costed me over $1000!! To fix a bath tub leak where he knew we're going to be renovating per end of this summer! I was disgusted, fuming and couldn't wait to get him out of the house and out of my side. Strangly enough he started to take pictures of our house on the from the drive way. Probably to show his friends who he ripped off today!!

Mike Colby installed a Rinnai tankless water heater (purchased elsewhere) in our home. A new gas line was installed, venting placed thru the roof and the unit installed in a very tight space. The work was done professionally, promptly and always with a smile. Mike listened and addressed any concerns that I had. Overall, the experience was better than I expected!! Neat, clean, efficient and on-time!! (And, as a special request, Mike also installed a new outdoor faucet w/ an inside shut-off). Last summer, Mike also replaced a small, under-the-counter water heater in our rental unit. It was an emergency repair and Mike arrived VERY quickly to help stop the water works!! The old, dead unit had to be removed thru an adjacent wall, and the new unit installed --all was done w/in a day! The wall was repaired, everything was left clean and our tenants were very pleased. We will definitely use Mike Colby and his crew again
