We love our house!!! The project went from demolition to completion and the contractor included us in a lot of decision making. The owner, we loved him-he is involved in everything and definitely is hands on and wants you to be happy. We got him through a referral so this didn't surprise us. Any of the men that came to our house to do the plumbing, electric, etc. all seemed to know him for years and they all worked well together. We went with him to pick out cabinets, countertops, knobs, tile-everything, right down to the color of the tile grout. He is always giving you suggestions and things to think about. We had an architect as well and they knew each other for years-we loved the architect but wound up going with our contractor's kitchen design because we liked it better. He was also very good at showing us options of where to save money and where not to in order to increase the resale of our house! We splurged on kitchen and bathroom-also on the quality of insulation/doors and Pella windows because of positive impact on utility costs. The only thing that was a challenge is that it seems like you really have to order everything (make your choices on things like cabinets, doors, tiles) well in advance because a lot of manufacturers do not keep as much inventory as in the past because of the economy and it can take long and hold up the job. I guess that would be dealing with any builder. I've already referred Scrofani Bldg Co to my boss who is taking on a kitchen renovation so I feel very comfortable with the experience!!! Depending on the type of company you are looking for, this is definitely not a fly by night contractor, but someone who has been doing this for years and years and really knows his stuff. Not a "cheap home improvement store" kind of guy. He guarantees everything. We even had some of the grout on our kitchen floor crack a little due to the settling of a new house. He has personally come back to the house several times to "check in" and follow up on little things like that to make sure we are happy. Would absolutely recommend without a doubt! Good luck!!!
