Word to the wise, Jim Alfano Co is no longer owned by the Alfano family. They kept the name but that's about else. Jason was our tech and kind enough but had little say in the matter. When I asked for my options for the repair, he passed the phone from his "manager". Right after I said hello, this guy, who never identified himself before laying into me on the phone, seemed annoyed when I asked him to stop for a minute and tell me who he was. I assumed it was the person I always dealt with...that just angered him more. He spent the next 5 minutes telling me that I should spend $5000 and just replace the whole system rather than continue to deal with it. I eventually hung up and made the cheapest decision he offered because I wanted these people out of my house. Oh, and then just to rub it in yet again, the tech came back after I paid the bill and showed him the door to reiterate that it was a "really bad leak". After getting a second evaluation of the system, turns out it's not that bad and we can figure out what's wrong in the fall. Crooks! If I have to deal with new people anyway, I'd at least like to get someone that doesn't treat me like an idol and yell at me...in my own home. Steer very clear...

They could not detect the leak after 3 visits, where they tried to charge me over $300 for each service call. The technicians were guessing at the problem and never found the leak. they recommended that I replace the entire system for $8,000. After loosing confidence in their ability to do the work, I called another company who diagnosed the problem over the phone based on the symptoms and the manufacturer, which was York. The new company came and did exactly what they said, found the leak in 15 minutes, and replaced the compressor unit 2 days later.

The unit required to be adjusted approximately 3 inches to allow for proper drainage. This took all but 15 mins for one tech to accomplish as the unit was already mounted on the wall. Provider spend 20 mins total working on site, but billed me for 4 techs and 1.5 hours work. This was witnessed by our office manager yet when provider was contacted they "were billing us for 4 techs because 4 techs were dispatched." They also claim that the unit had to be removed from the wall and remounted as well as the drain line had to be removed and reinstalled. None of this work was performed. As I was not on site at the time and was not able to confront the provider face to face I paid the bill an vowed never to refer nor use their service again.

I am under contract with him for him to take care of my air conditioner. I do love this group and even if they were slightly more costly I would still use them. They are great as I never have any problems with them.

It was poorly installed. Didn't install enough coolant. Kept misdiagnosing the problem. Came multiple times. Charged each time for service call.

JIm's service team came on time. I showed them the area where the unit would be installed. I had to move quite a bit of shelving and boxes from an area that they needed to get to in order to install the two main ducts that would blow air in and out of the unit. That took awhile to do and this was not explained to me when Jim came out to look at the job. Although the team knew what needed to get done, I would have appreciated more of an explanation up front of how the equipment would work and the space that needed to be cleared. Jim also tried to sell me other services while providing his assessment of the situaiton and frankly I didn't feel he was very focused on the issue at hand. The crew consisted of two individuals. They opened holes in the walls (sheetrock and paneling) where the vents were installed and left considerable dust and debris from the drilling but did not pick up or advise that this needed to be cleaned. They were not prepared to cover the all floors and left the areas they walked through quite dirty. When they installed the unit I was told the air would circulate from one end of the basement to the other (right to left) but they did not install it as recommended by JIm (did it eft to right). I don't know if this is going to work as well since the humidity levels are acceptable now.....but wait until the season starts. I am hoping they live to their word and come back to assess any issue with the unit if it does not function properly as this job as far as I'm concerned may not be complete.

During the scheduling of the appointment, they were very accommodating. The plumber arrived in a timely manner. I do not recall the price but it was fair according to a normal one hour service call. There was minimal mess but he did clean up after himself. During the visit, the plumber answered all of my questions and gave me advice for making minor adjustments in the future.
