Description of Work: "Service was done by GRZ Construction - Guy Zodda | |Base Cabinets |1) Ikea Base cabinets were installed incorrectly, even though we supplied the contractor the instructions. | |2) There are no wood shims behind the railing which holds the base cabinets on the wall. | |3) At least one section of the base cabinets were not drilled into the studs and pulled out of the wall. | |4) That same section is missing the needed railing behind it. We had a full rail not used, which was supposed to be used. My only assumption was the contractor was in a hurry to get off the job. | |5) They left with the feet of the base cabinets not set on the floor. All the feet had to be unscrewed down to the floor take all the weight off the wall/rail. It just seems like common sense, even if they didn't have the instructions. The day they left after installing I noticed the feet were not touching the floor and fixed them. | |6) One corner cabinet was chipped. | |7) The gap between the cabinets for the stove is 30 inches, however it is 36 inches. I originally told him 36 inches, however We we noticed the discrepancy and told Guy Zodda. He refused to move the cabinet. |Lighting |Guy installed track lighting in the kitchen. The Track lighting included 3 strips of lights. During installation, one light broke. Did not replace. There were small gaps where the old light fixture was where Guy installed the new one. There was joint compound/mud smeared on the the housing where the light was being fed electricity. Looked sloppy and had to spent time scrapping all that off. One screw holding the light in is going at an angle... overall just a sloppy low quality job. He should have spent more time. |Electrical |Powerstrips were put in. One powerstrip didnt work. Guy said is was the powerstrip was faulty. He took it off and left a wire hanging outside the wall. I had to get another electrician in to fix this. This wire had only 10volts running through it (tested twice and breaker checked). The new electrician had no idea how he hooked this up. We had to REOPEN the wall and run a new line and install the powerstrip. |Tile Floor |1) Tile was laid horribly. We did not notice how bad it was until we cleaned the tile and realized how off level it was, how bad the grouting was and a few toe kicks. |Contractor sent his nephew and Scott(his worker) to fix. They did not have enough materials that day, so they left to come back another day. | |2) Guys nephew, re-laid the tile, doing a much better job, however one tile was missed with grout because the base cabinet on the floor covered the tile and wasn't noticed until the cabinet was put back on the wall. |3) Still missing some grout around a tile, but it is under the cabinet. Grout could have been done better. When I see other people who have the same tile layout...I notice a big difference. | |Widening entry way to kitchen |Patching walls and sanding to ""Paint-Ready"" | |1) Walls were not left ""Paint-Ready"". When going over the things we wanted done, we agreed on having the walls ""ready to put pain on"". The walls were left with a lot of compound from patching the walls, and a very sub-par sanding job . Guy sent two workers twice to fix. The first time, they came and left without doing any work. The came back another day and started sanding what they worked on previously, however there are plenty of areas where it is not smooth for paint, too much compound, not enough compound(you can and feel the green mesh where the walls were patched). I spent days sanding and filling I what they were supposed to do. What we agreed on in the contract. | |All agreed money was paid to GRZ Construction - Guy Zodda. Job was supposed to be for 5 days of work. We bought all cabinets, tiles, grout, lighting fixtures, powerstrips. He paid for a few pieces of drywall, particle board and hardy backer and some 120 electrical line. Paid him 5000 dollars for his services for 5 days of work...That calculates to 1000 dollars a day... could you imagine being paid 5000 dollars a day? You could only imagine the quality I should have gotten but didn't. Could not get him back to fix everything he left.
