A Riteway Construction

DO NOT USE! I hired this company to repair my front sidewalk. While they were here a guy looked at my chimney and told me how dangerous it was and needed to be re-lined and gave me a "special" price, but I had to agree to do it that day, I couldn't take time to think about it or get other opinions. I felt pressured and said yes. They re-lined my chimney and ever since then, my fireplace not worked properly. My living room smells exceptionally smoky when I make a fire. This was not the case before they re-lined my chimney. They came back out several times after, at my request, and said there was nothing wrong with the work they did and that there was a problem with the original design of my chimney and they could try to fix it for another large chunk of money. I reminded them that I did not have the problem before their work and asked to speak with the owner. I called many times asking to speak with the owner and he never called me back. Later I heard that sometimes contractor's take a shortcut by using a less than desirable small  diameter liner because it is easier to get down the chimney, I don't know for sure that this was the case, but sounds likely.  In hindsight,  I am not even sure I needed to have my chimney re-lined. Now I have to hire a real chimney expert (highly rated from Angie's List this time!) and spend a bunch more money to undo what they did. Buyer beware with this company.
PS- I was also not happy with the sidewalk work they did and is falling apart after 5 years.

It did not go well at all.

BEWARE. Based on my horrific experiences, I would never hire this company again. Work that should have been completed within 2 months from contract signing date became a year long ordeal that caused major disruptions and inconveniences to me and my family members lives and is still not completed. Took $15,000 of $18,000 and abandoned the job and is not returning calls. Left hazardous conditions and code violations on my property.  Failed to complete the work in the timeframe specified in the contract. The work I paid for is faulty, below acceptable quality and standards and have not been completed. Created hazardous conditions on my property. Failed to respond to my numerous attempts to communicate with them to get resolve. Unprofessional conduct and unfair business practices have made this company one that I cannot continue to do business with.The owner, Leo Pertrosillo, showed up within one hour to sign the contract and take my money in August, 2011 and never showed up again. Staff came without supervision and did work that failed inspection four times. He did not have the professionalism or common decency to come and oversee the job progress or discuss the long inexcusable delays and violations of building codes with me. Left my family without access to our front entrance for over five months during the winter. They demonstrated the company lacks professionalism, customer service and empathy towards customers. Damaged our property and left hazardous conditions. We cannot continue living with these hazardous and ugly conditions and have no other choice but to hire a new contractor to complete the job

Everything went well. They were very prompt. I had a hard time getting companies to come out. I called them and they came out the next day.

We had used A Riteway for two previous jobs so we called them when the roof in the den began leaking after a snowstorm.  They came out and worked on the roof but the next day the leaks returned.  They came back and worked on the roof  three days later but again, the leaks returned.  We tried for several days to contact them and left messages with an employee so that they could honor their warranty, but we did not get a return call or visit from A Riteway.  We finally went to another roofer who fixed the problem on the first try.  We tried to get our money back because the work was shoddy and they ignored our attempts to reach them the third time.  We ultimately went to Small Claims Court where the judgment was in our favor.

They were very courteous.  We will hopefully be able to use them.  The guy who came to do the estimate came on time.  He even gave us a break.  He threw in some stuff on the price so we are considering the company.  We have one more person coming in a while to give us an estimate, so we will take our decision after that.  Based on what we have experienced so far with Riteway, we would consider them for the future.

I have not been satisfied with the work that Riteway did for me. They sent out three different guys to do the estimate for the roof and the chimney. They told me that I would not need as much work on the chimney as I thought, but that the roof would need a lot of help. They told me that they would be able to repair a couple of leaks that I had. They did a good job and everything seemed to be working, until this spring when we had some major rain and some of the leaks reappeared. I will not likely use Riteway Construction in the future.
