First of all, Jeff always followed up with me.  Whether I tried to contact him via a phone call, an email, or a message, he responded very quickly.  He also showed up exactly when he said he would.  I had another chimney repair company miss 2 appointments they had set, so it's great to have someone that actually cares about the customer and the customer's time.
I had 6 different quotes to remove vegetation from my chimney and make the necessary repairs.  Of the 6 quotes, 3 of the companies pulled up to my home, looked up at the chimney from the ground, and said "You need a new chimney" and quoted my thousands of dollars.  The other 3 (including Serab) actually took out a ladder and climbed on the roof to inspect the chimney.  All three of them said I did not need a "whole new chimney" and that it was in good shape and just needed some repairs.  Serab gave me the best overall price and had the best customer service.
When I contacted Jeff about doing the work, he came that day to go over the details of the job and he brought his worker who actually did the repairs.  He created a new more detailed estimate spelling out everything that would be done and made sure his employee understood what was required and that I was satisfied with what would be done.  It was amazingly detailed, unlike other contractors estimates I have seen in the past.  He said multiple times that he wanted to make sure I am satisfied.  I gave him a small deposit and he and his worker were there the next day to start the job.  By the end of the day, my chimney was repointed and reflashed.  He needed to come back a few days later (after everything dried), to finish the rest of the work.  I offered to pay him part of the money for what was done on the first day and he refused.  He said I should pay him the balance when the job is finished and i am happy with the work.  Wow.  A contractor not wanting money until everything was completed and I was happy?!  I was stunned and pleased.
His worker returned a few days later as promised and finished everything.  The chimney looks new.  Even my neighbors commented on how nice it looks.  They were also very clean.  Other than a new looking chimney, you couldn't even tell they had ever been there.
Serab Chimney does quality work and actually cares about the customer.  I would not hesitate to use them again.

We couldn't be happier with the result. Jeff is very knowledgeable and professional. He adapted to our schedule, he and his crew were on time. Jeff spent plenty of time educating us on the fireplace and the damper operation, and addressed all our questions and concerns. Finding the right person for the job was crucial, we had to find the person who won't push unnecessary services and products to us.  We'll definitely be calling Jeff again for all the chimney and fireplace related needs.

Jeff and his team were excellent. After getting an initial quote elsewhere, which included replacing both of my chimney flues, I ended up calling Serab. After the initial inspection Jeff told me one flue was in excellent condition, but the other needed repair. Throughout the process, Jeff always provided me with a multitude of options and price ranges. His honesty, coupled with his competitive pricing, made my decision to move forward a no brainer.
Serab handled getting the permit from my town and followed up to schedule. Due to some conflicts we weren't able to get started for about a month, but Jeff and his team worked with me and came in on a Saturday. On the day they came, they brought me in at critical times to show me what they were doing, provided me with some great tips on using our fireplace (I've never had one before), left my house cleaner than when they arrived, and even sat down to fill out warranty cards with me to make sure I'm covered in the future.
I will happily refer them to anyone!

A year ago we had a quote from another company and thought we were going to have the work done by a friend of a friend who was in the field. In the end, we did nothing. So this year (our second winter in the house), we decided to talk to another company to get a second opinion. So I called Jeff of Serab. He came out when my girlfriend was working from home to give us a quote. He reviewed everything and called me with a quote. He confirmed we needed the liner that had been suggested by the other company. He gave us a few options and his opinions on other aspects of my roof. For the same price, he was going to give us a waterproofing service, flashing touch up, a new chimney cap, etc. His price was in line with the other company (who is also highly rated on Angie's list). In the end, I decided to go with him because of all low sales pressure (not that the other company was hard sell they were professional also), his knowledge, and also he was the owner who was on-site.

At my request, he got the permits, and arranged the work a week later. The work was performed well with minor disruptions to our household. There was an issue though with the waterproofing though. He thought the black area surrounding our chimney was soot. It was actually tar. The prior owner had done a and quot;quick fixand quot; to repair the chimney. Unfortunately the tar is non-reversalable without extreme costs so we are stuck with it. Jeff was very annoyed by the company that did it as he felt that was a terrible thing for them to have done. From other findings in our new home, I'm not sure if it was totally their fault. During Hurrican Irene emergency repairs had to be done, and the prior homeowners had a tendacy to do the cheaper quick fix rather than the and quot;right thingand quot;.

When the inspector came, Jeff thought he was annoyed by a comment Jeff made about him being late. Well the inspector then failed the chimney. I understand this is common, but the changes the inspector requested seemed to be excessive. Jeff was use to having to make fixes for inspectors. This inspector required us to put a metal plate on the ceiling over the furnace. Something I had never seen in any home I had ever been in. In the end, it seemed to be belt and suspenders, but you never know...it might save my house from a future catastrophe. Oh and Jeff made all these changes (there was another minor one) on a Sunday!

On Tuesday, the inspector returned and we passed.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised by Serab and how they went above and beyond. The amount of time, Jeff spent to get it right was very appreciated. We now have a chimney liner that will make our new(er) home safer and more efficient.

As a result of all this, there is another smaller job of replacing a chimney plate for my fireplace (The other job was with my gas furnace chimney). It will be Stainless Steel versus galvanized that may be leaking now, that I have authorized to be done. My expectation is this job will also be done to their high standards

I called Jeff to verify costs for repair estimate on our chimney and flue liner. He returned my call quickly and was communicative and showed up as promised for the estimate. He also provided excellent information and written estimate. If we are going to have this work done, I will definitely contact him to do it.

Once we told Jeff he was hired to do the job, he immediately came by to execute the contract and we gave him a deposit on the work. He handled the permits necessary for the liner and scheduled the work immediately once they were approved. He and his crew showed up on time and worked efficiently while they were here. Despite having to demolish a part of our chimney in the basement, the area was spotless when they left.
The town inspector came to view the and quot;roughand quot; job before Jeff sealed in the liner. Permit inspectors can often be nit-picky so I was nervous. However, the inspector reviewed the job and said, and quot;I love it when I review work of people who know what they are doing.and quot; I was tickled pink. Jeff's crew immediately returned to cement the chimney and the final inspection was a breeze.
Jeff was extremely communicative during the whole process and I would highly recommend his work.

My furnace kept cutting off after running only a minute or two. The temperature in the house was 55 and dropping. Public service came out and couldn't find the problem but suggested it was the venting. By then it was 7pm. I called several chimney companies based on Angie's List reviews but only one answered the phone instead of letting the call go to voice mail. I called Jeff (Serab Chimney) AND he answered his phone, came right over, cleaned the chimney so that I would have heat for the night. He returned promptly the next day and installed the chimney liner. He and the other workers were polite, courteous and efficient.
