Vera & Vera

Have done my own taxes for years. Decided to have a professional do them because of schedule D.  Return showed me with income but owing no taxes. Not correct. Disappointed.  Nice guy but I need someone reliable.

They were fine. They completed the forms. I didn't feel as if I got anything special, but have no complaints. They were very busy so I felt it took time to get responses from them which is nerve wracking around tax time, but they got them in on time. I thought I paid more than I should have in taxes, but after doing them myself this year, they seemed to be in range.

It went well. It took a little long. The preparer was friendly. The location is very small and off the beaten path. I usually do my own taxes, but I thought with the purchase of a new home, a professional might have some more incite. His calculations came out to be what I had anticipated on my own. I could've saved myself $50. Nice guy, but nothing special.

It was great. No complaints everything was fine.

I had no choice but to pick up my paperwork and leave.  Horrible experience!  If you decide to hire Vera & Vera be sure you get Richard and that he will be doing your taxes from beginning to end.  
I met with Richard on a previous date and he was nice and accommodating even after I was quick to suggest I'd rather not waste time with formal introductions and would really like to get to work on my taxes.  I did explain that I had no time to waste and he understood.  We spent an hour together with his assistant.  Everything went well and I was happy we managed to get started. 
Today on February 12th I arrived after being asked to reschedule from our Feb 11th appointment. Upon arriving only Richards receptionist was there.  She was nice and we started to get to work right away.  About 10 min late another gentleman (loose term) arrived that was not Richard dressed very casually and unprofessional. I was then told that this person was going to be doing my taxes and Rich would review them before submitting.  While I was in the middle of working with Richards assistant the new guy rudely interrupted and told her to not even bother.  He told her to just hand him everything and he would be ready in 5 minutes anyway so no sense in having to revisit whatever we were doing again.  He was very rude and pushy.
 I don't remember his name right now, I will try to update later.  At this point I spoke up and asked why no one had called to let me know that Richard would not be doing my taxes.  They said he was being held up at work. Again I asked why no one bothered to call me first and let me know what was going on.  I mentioned that I was uncomfortable starting over again with someone new and that the whole situation just wasn't sitting well with me.  
No one in the office empathized with me at all.  Three of them were insisting that it was no big deal that the new person was equally and if not more qualified than Richard.  Once again I brought up the fact that no one ever mentioned even the possibility of not working with Richard and that even a phone call would have greatly been appreciated. I told them all that I spent an hour with Richard and that this just wasn't feeling right to me.
 Then the new guy that walked in late started insisting that he was more than qualified and he knew what he was doing and that Richard would review the work later. It seemed as if he he was insulted personally and failed to acknowledge and understand my concerns nor did he care to.  It all really started to feel like a bait and switch.  If at any moment any one of them had said they were sorry for the confusion and that they understood my concerns I might have stayed. But they did not.  
Customer service is everything! This was everything but.

If you send them all your information online I would wonder who was actually doing my taxes.  It very well could be this  unprofessional  rude person I encountered today. I wanted nothing to do with this guy myself. 
 I called back after getting home and learned that they have an answering service. I don't have a problem with them having an answering service but this was also alarming for the following reason.  At first Tina whom I never heard of before told me she was at the Lakewood office and would page Joy. Joy is Richards wife.  After questioning what Lakewood office and asking for the address Tina then confessed that she was a service that they use.  She took my information down and said I could expect a call from Joy shortly.  
No call.
Horrible experience to say the least.

Service was extremely professional and responsive, with clear answers to all my questions. They use an on-line system and work with email which makes the process smooth and easy.

It went very smoothly. They even have a lockbox for transmitting documents.

I used Turbo Tax again for the 2013 Taxes filings but for some reason the numbers just didn't look correct to me so I opted for some professional help. Through Angie's list I found Vera and Vera and their reviews were quite good. Also they were running a 99.00 tax return special so I figured we would give them a shot. Most correspondence were handled by e-mail or by accessing their secure website portal which made it quite efficient to send or retrieve files. Phone conversations were very clear, easy to understand and informative when necessary. Rich and Joy found the issue, saved me a lot of money and also did a great job helping me with another issue that came up. They're seem very knowledgeable about tax laws and I felt confident using them for my tax issues. Will be using them again.

Everything was top notch. The staff at Vera and Vera were very professional and thorough in completing my taxes. Although price is not the most important thing when having your taxes prepared, the price was outstanding. Additionally, I felt very comfortable and confident that the taxes were being prepared properly. I felt that the level of honesty, integrity, competence, and knowledge of the tax laws were outstanding and would definitely recommend the service to friends and family.

This time I purchased this Co. through Angie's List for $ 99.

Due to my travelling I need to have it done sooner so I called them but it was too busy for the schedule.

I called the Angie's List to help me out for the earlier scheduling.

Angie helped me to bring my schedule.

And the work is done professionally and the price was very competitive.

I will use them again.

The experience was great. We went to her, and everything was done within an hour, and we were very happy. They were very nice. We did not pay anything over the $99 of the big deal. The price was wonderful.

We had emailed back and forth with Joy Vera to confirm the appointment, and she's professional and nice. We met Richard Vera and were impressed with his tax knowledge. His personality is very much a "click" with ours, and his history and experiences were interesting to listen to. We spent a pleasant couple of hours doing our taxes(!) and trading stories. He also helped us do my Dad's taxes at the same time, which was a life-saver. Normally, I don't enjoy doing our taxes, but the experience with the Vera's made it pleasant, professional and even enjoyable. Thanks!
