Merry Maids of Hackensack

We sought out a new service provider because one of the workers stole money out my Mother’s purse. I lost my trust for them after that. It was a little shocking because they have been coming here for the past 2 years. When I tried to confront the woman she ran out of the house. I contacted management and they told me to file a police report. I decided that was too much hassle over $20 and they weren’t doing that good of a job anyway so I decided to find a new service provider. My new housekeeper charges more, but they do a better job.

I thought they were doing a thorough job (although was not watching every move) until I noticed that my wood floors were wet. I asked her to use less liquid for the remaining floors, and dry immediately, as water will ruin the finish. She agreed but then still left the floors wet. When I asked her to dry them and explained again, she said that she didn't know how to wash wood floors but did it because I had asked her to. This was not the case. I had asked to wipe the floors. If she didn't know how to do something, she should have asked! Did a very good job of wiping blinds, etc but left some things untouched (fronts of dressers, glass lampshade, edges of bed-frame, baseboards and didn't vacuum upholstered sofa and chair). Also seem to have washed tile floor without sweeping first. I have indicated that I would use them again but only with very close supervision. Regarding punctuality, it was frustrating because they said they'd be here sometime in the a.m., before 11:30 and would call 30 minutes prior. When nobodh had called by 11:30, I called at which time I was told they would arrive in 20 minutes.

It was not so good. First of all they said they would send the same people and they didn't. The new people didn't listen to what I wanted. They disregarded what I asked them and did what they wanted to do.

They come every two weeks. They are just okay and not terrific. The girls are probably from South America and don't speak English fluently. The communication with them is limited because of their limited English. They don't do anything which is not on the list, but if I ask them to do something they will do it. I hire them because I have health problems. They are not going to do the job that you yourself are going to do.

I employed Merry Maids for several months and found their services to be quite mediocre. For starters, the company brochure states that the same 2-member cleaning team always comes to the same house. Over a period of a few months, I encountered at least 3 different teams. The brochure also states that the cleaners wear company uniforms (green Polo shirts and khaki pants), but I found this policy to be only sporadically applied. The cleaners always seemed to be in a rush to finish up and get out of there, so they never did a thorough job. I frequently found missed and dirty spots on my counters and bathroom fixtures. Also, the dusting was always done in a very cursory manner - I watched several episodes of window blind "dusting" and all the cleaner did was half-heartedly wave a feather duster across my closed window blinds. The feather duster is also passed over the shelves and other horizontal surfaces in a very superficial manner, and items on the shelves are never moved in order to dust better, which obviously leaves a lot of dust behind. When I asked the cleaners about this, I was told that their management forbids them to pick up or move any household belongings. Overall, I was very disappointed in the quality of cleaning I received, for the amount of money I was paying. The best thing I can say about Merry Maids is that billing and scheduling is easy because of their corporate nature and centralized offices, the cleaners were mostly punctual, and their cleaning products smelled nice.

Horrible experience! The team was 45 minutes late because of being sent the wrong way by their office. Despite being told to clean the ventilation grilles, they skipped quite a number of them leaving them visibly filthily. They vacuumed extremely poorly along the carpet edges and corners, and left numerous bits of debris and insects bodies even in open areas easily spotted. Dust and grime was left on baseboard and chair rail moldings in almost every room. I had previously used other maid services in my former home, particularly Maid Brigade, and never experienced such poor and careless cleaning. Remember these were completely empty rooms and the previous owner had basically cleaned them up for the "walk through" at closing a few days before. When I called the office to complain about the poor cleaning, the supervisor would not work with my schedule to arrange for a revisit, so I could not get the place properly cleaned before my movers arrived. When I told her she had lost me as a potential regular customer, she was unapologetic and seemed unconcerned. Beware this branch of Merry Maids and use Maid Brigade (who are great) or other cleaners who care about their work and their customers!

We really have been pleased with this company each time they have cleaned for us. They send in a reasonably sized team of people to do the cleaning work. They don t miss spots, at least that we have found, and our house looks a heck of a lot better after they are done than when they first get here so I have absolutely no complaints about them at all. I think they are a larger company, so you kind of know you are dealing with someone reputable and I'd call myself satisfied.

THEY DID A PRETTY GOOD JOB OF CLEANING. THEY WERE ALWAYS ON TIME. THE ONLY THING WAS THAT THEY DIDN'T SPEAK ENGLISH VERY WELL, THEY WERE MOSTLY SPANISH SPEAKING. SO IT WAS KIND OF HARD TO COMMUNICATE. I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO OTHERS.

THEY ARE A PRETTY GOOD COMPANY. THEY DO A PRETTY GOOD JOB. THEY ARE ALWAYS ON TIME. THEY CLEAN UP WELL. I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO OTHERS. THEY DO WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE.

THEY ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL. THEY ARE VERY FRIENDLY. THE QUALITY OF WORK WAS NOT AS GOOD AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE. IT WAS ACCEPTABLE BUT WAS NOT THE WAY I LIKE IT.
