The process moved quickly and efficiently. They called to schedule a date and they showed up on time. They were able to finish the installation by afternoon. The workers were clean and left our house as they found it. They were very friendly and professional. The system worked fine and we have been happily using our AC for the past month. The installation passed inspection with no problems.
Everything went smoothly and we had no complaints at all. Everybody at the company is friendly and pleasant to work with. We had other companies ignore our calls, but we were never ignored by Duct Mate. The installation was painless and the AC works great. We would definitely call them again and would recommend them.

So, when needed work done in my new house, I reached out to DuctMate. They were the first one to give me an estimate. Joe the owner himself came for all the estimate (and then he is 'on the job' too). I was highly impressed with his knowledge about the duct sizing, unit sizing etc. I got 6-7 other estimates before finally picking duct mate.
The installation started on the day it was promised to be started. Every day - Joe - the owner - himself was on the job, and his son was one of the three 'guys' working on the job. So, it's a truly owner operated business. I really liked the fact that the guy who took initial requirement and gave the estimate was himself working on the job, getting into the attic etc. I have had bad experiences with other contractors when the person who gave estimates never came on the job.
I can actually write a multiple page reviews - on them. They are very professional - do the job neat - it's a family owned / family run business - but they have employee's / team to get things done. They KNOW the stuff - I KNOW this because I took 6-7 estimates and talked to different guys - and when I got different recommendations on DUCT sizing / unit sizing - I kept going to google and my searches showed that what Brian and Joe were telling me was correct.
We have a big basement and the old HVAC system was installed right in the middle with big duct work hanging around everywhere making the basement useless. DuctMate moved the system to crawlspace (replaced one low efficiency unit with two separate high efficiency units), removed all old duct work - and redid new duct work using low profile custom made ducts (they manufacture their own duct work, so it was customized to fit our house. Their were many custom pieces made to go 'around' existing electrical wiring, existing gas pipes etc. While here - he even took care of some plumbing things.
When I called the office for payments / permits / negotiations on pricing, I was dealing with Pat and Brian. I used to think Pat is an office manager, but she is the owner too and she never shows that off on the phone calls. They all are all very respectful, and very professional.
During the installation days, once Joe had to go to another appointments for 2-3 days, so a day before he came back with his son in the evening, worked late and ensured that we had heating in the house while he would not be on the job for 2 days.
This review is sounding fishy now, as if I am an insider, but I really do love this company and would highly recommend anyone to hire them for HVAC needs / duct work needs.

- 1. Broke a light fixture in my kitchen when the technician dropped a piece of wood through the open vent.
- 2. Didn't properly place the condenser unit on the overflow pan which caused condensation to miss the pan, flow down the walls and cause a leak in my garage.
- 3. Had to be told repeatedly to combine the thermostats into 1 instead of having 2 separate thermostats.
- 4. Needed numerous adjustments to get the a/c temperatures in the house set properly and they still are not. Some rooms are colder than others no matter what the setting is.
After breaking the light fixture, we were told that they would make it right. We searched for the same replacement fixture to no avail since it is no longer made. We were then told to look for something comparable and even get a replacement for a complimentary fixture in the kitchen since the replacement for the broken one wouldn't match the existing complimentary fixture.
We looked for months and so did they. Neither could find the same fixture and we were NEVER contacted by Duct Mate regarding their attempts to locate the fixture.
We purchased new fixtures and contacted Duct Mate with the cost and to arrange to have them install it. Never did they say a word about the cost and they did come and install it. We gave them the bill for the cost and again, not a word was said to us about it.
A month or so later, we get a letter and a check for not even 50% of the cost of the fixture. The letter said that based on their "research", the original fixture was worth about $98 so out of the goodness of their hearts, they doubled it and added in tax. This is their way of "making it right".
I contacted them directly and spoke with Joe Tosca about this. After hemming and hawing over it and reminding me how he returned my call and installed the fixture, he agreed to send the balance ($280). I just received a check for $200 which is once again less than agreed.
At this point, I am DONE with Duct Mate and not only will NEVER use them again, I will further advise anyone considering them to beware. I have found them to be less than reputable and their word is meaningless. Their sole agenda is to get paid and get out. They have made this entire project a nightmare for my family and I am sorry I ever hired them.

Upon going over your experience with Joe Tasca he wanted to address several of your items: When the condensate leak occurred and Duct Mate was called, we responded within 24 hours. The leak was taken care of immediately, we also picked up sheetrock to replace where the water had stained in the garage. This was unfortunate and I can understand how this may cause some undue stress. Combining the thermostat into one, per our contract, was not part of the job, however, it was done at not additional cost to you. In speaking with Joe regarding your home, he said he had spoken with you regarding the air conditioning and was told the air conditioning was great and that the sons room was cold to your son, but not to you. Joe said he could adjust the damper and you would call him, if necessary. With regard to the light fixture, yes, unfortunately, sometimes accidents happen. We do realize one of our mechanics broke part of the fixture in the kitchen. We were trying to replace the part that was broken and were unable to as the fixture was no longer available. The company had a similar version and this was relayed over to you. As in the research that was done regarding your fixture, Duct mate sent over the value of the original fixture plus tax, as well as the additional amount to cover the cost of replacing another fixture in the kitchen so they would match. We also installed the new fixtures. As Joe had stated he did find a similar fixture to the one that was broken as well as a matching fixture to replace the one that was not. He did not think he was going to be requested to pay more than double the amount of what the fixtures cost. Joe responded to your call regarding the amount to cover the cost of the fixtures, you had expressed you were not satisfied and Joe agreed to send an additional check. An additional $200.00 was mailed to you. No request goes unanswered whether good or bad. Unfortunately, there were several minor incidents that occurred in your home. I apologize for this. There was no indication, as the job was being done, that you were not satisfied with either the installation or my mechanics on the job. I believe if there was an issue with the air conditioning not keeping everyone cool in the heat of the summer, we would have received a call. I will say that the review you have given Duct Mate, is a bit unjust, but it is done. We stand behind our work and should you have a problem in the future, I do hope you will call. I can't express enough how easy it was using Duct Mate and dealing with all individuals in that company. This unit is a rental property. I did need work done on my home and again called them and things are working fine at home too.
I don't usually take time to write reviews, good or bad, but had to express my positive experience with anyone needing an honest and good company for any of their AC/heating needs.
