Architectural Service
Mr. Johns created detailed plans that that could not be built for my stated budget of $300K. I filed a complaint with the AIA National Ethics Council who agreed with me and imposed a penalty of "censure". The penalty was upheld on appeal. Mr. Johns paid an attorney to represent him in the hearings, I represented myself. The Ethics Committee through a face to face meeting (paid for by the AIA) and several teleconferences heard the testimony of Mr. Johns and his attorney multiple times and concluded that he violated the Institute's Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct Rule 3.301. The publication identifies Mr. Johns by name. It is an official publication of the AIA. The process took a number of years during which Mr. Johns had multiple opportunities to "make things right" but he refused.
