MARVELOUS PAINTING

No house painting job is ever perfect, but Madan did a good job of resolving issues quickly, as well as quickly adjusting to my change in house color midway through the project.

They did a fantastic job. Prep work, painting and cleanup was done to perfection. Workers were professional and very accommodating.

Our kitchen and hallway needed a "refresh" with new paint (same color) on the walls and the trim including several doors and door surrounds. Within the year, the paint was peeling off the doorways in strips due to poor prep work. Instead of sanding and priming the old paint (which was oil), they went right over the top of it with a coat of latex. When I called to let them know of the problem, they were polite and apologetic and promised to come and take a look. It took several attempts to get the manager here but eventually he did come. He agreed that the work on the trim needed to be redone and that was the last I heard from him. I left repeated messages but he never responded. We had used Marvelous Painting previously to paint the exterior of our house and a few years later when it was time to repaint (which was much sooner than the time-frame he told us we could expect from the job), the new company we were using explained that our paint job didn't hold up because the previous painters didn't sand and prime. Once again, their poor prep work resulted in us having to pay to repaint much sooner than we should have.

I must say that they were great when it came to painting inside the house, Bittu's team did an excellent job painting the interior walls and moving everything and placing everything back. The outside work we hired Marvelous Paiting for was a different story for the exterior house and deck painting. There were many times I felt cheated with Bittu and the work he subs out. There were numerous times we caught them either trying to use less material for the cedar shingles than agreed and painting with less coats then agreed. We really had to stay on top of their work to make sure we got as much out of the job as we agreed to in the beginning. The deck finishing looked terrible at first with patches of colors throughout the deck. They did resolve it, but we had the feeling they got cheap with the finishing which clearly shows on the deck with everything peeling off a year later. If you would like them for interior work, I would highly recommend but stay away for the outside job!

It went well overall.

Overall "ok" experience, but average quality. Bittu the owner of Marvelous does not have painters on the payroll they are outsourced. Bittu comes at the end of the day to inspect and provide comments on the work, but the quality suffers because he is not on the job site.

Overall it went very well. Bittu was very polite and knowledgeable and was able to show up the next day after I called for the quote. He provided me with a quote on the spot, which was at least $1200 cheaper than the next quote I got. They ended up doing 3 coats instead of two in the basement, which brought the price up another $300 or so. Once we finally got the colors picked out, he was able to schedule the work to start within a week. The work took 10 days, which is exactly what Bittu had estimated. They did come back to do some very, very minor touch up work before they collected payment. There were some accidental paint smears on some blinds and drips on the floor--nothing horrible, but that's one of the main reasons I rated the quality at a "B" instead of an A. Overall, the paint job looked good. They also worked hard to be very accommodating to my schedule and to make sure I didn't need to move any furniture, etc.

The job went smoothly, even though they had to stop their work to accommodate another contractor. Bittu rescheduled and always was prompt, efficient, and neat. The workers always cleaned up and you'd never be left with a mess to clean up.

I have used this company before for interior painting and knew the quality of work I could expect. Again I was not disappointed! They remain courteous, professional and reasonably priced. They also aim to please at all times.

Quote prompt. Painters prompt on appointed day. Shrubs and bushes properly covered with tarps; then they walked on top of the tarp, damaging flowers underneath. Replacement of ten shakes that had large woodpecker holes not done. They filled the holes with filler instead. They informed me they were about finished and ready to do the windows. When I asked about the second finish coat, the painter said no one told him. They then slapped on a second coat. After second coat, there were places where the primer color was not covered by either finish coat. Painted shake edges next to windows white vs red. Put paint on foundation and porch floors and ended up painting the foundation to correct it. Garbage left around house; down spouts disconnected. I scraped paint off the windows after they were done. I finally paid them and told them to keep workers off my property; I would finish it myself. Elapsed time two months for 1 week job. Nevertheless, house looks very good from street.

We received quotes from two additional vendors. Bitu, the owner of Marvelous Painting, had the best attitude and the best price. He was very flexible about the timing of the work. His workers were prompt, efficient, and friendly. Overall, the work was great. However, his workers could have been more meticulous. We ended up with some paint on a Hunter Douglas Silhouette blind, two comforters, two leather sofas, some additional furniture pieces, and the floors. His workers also used one of our large recycling tubs to mix paint. One of the metal rings that hold up the drapes in the dining room was lost and never recovered. We were reimbursed for a replacement blind. We would recommend waiting at least a week before paying the final balance due. This gives one time to identify any minor damage that occurs. Otherwise, you have little recourse.
