We tried to call several times after this to get in touch with Payless, each time we tried to leave a message but the mail box was always full. I tried several more times the following week and finally someone picked up. We scheduled an appointment for the next Monday. I took off work to wait for the repairman, needless to say he never showed up. I tried to call more than several times during and after the scheduled appointment and never got through to anyone.
Finally I went into work in the afternoon and they must have made room in the mailbox so I left a voice mail. No one called me back.
Due to this experience we called another maintenance company and they promptly responded to my request for business.
The tech was very pleasant and knowledgeable. He gave me diagnosis consistent with previous service calls, explained the options and did not try to oversell me on things I didn't need to fix immediately. My previous A/C maintenance company is somewhat less expensive but the bill was probably in the middle of what I've seen A/C maintenance companies charge. The responsiveness was superb - the problem was fixed about 2 hours after I scheduled the appointment despite being in summer busy season!
I can't rate quality yet because the repair was just performed, but it was simple and I don't expect any problems.
Quality of service is terrible, the service they did to my place lasted less than 12 hours.
They diagnosed the need to replace the condenser of my AC. It took them almost a month and 4 visits to my house including one in which they brought the wrong condenser type and had to reschedule. After they finally installed the condenser it stopped working in less than 12 hours after installed. Even though they advertise to have an emergency service they refused to return to my house the following day to verify what went wrong and offered to schedule the follow up service for the following week. After a heated argument with their attendant she threatened to postpone or cancel the following week appointment saying "You know what? I can do even worse for you, we are not coming on Monday." and hung up on me.
After I found another contractor, and called to inform the Home warranty company I was canceling the service with this company and canceling the entire request, the home warranty called them (probably informing they would not get paid) and they finally backed off a little and informed they were doing an "exception" to their policy and would call in their technician and pay him on the weekend to come to my house.
I had a terrible experience and would not recommend this company's service.
"This was just a terrible experience all around for not just the homeowner but our company as well. The equipment is not order through Payless Maintenance it is ordered through the warranty company the homeowner belongs to and they shipped our company the wrong unit. First visit to the homeowners house we diagnosed that a leak was present , as guideline per our contract with the warranty company we put leak seal in the system and then added r-22 Vist # was when we actually reclaimed all r-22 and used a nitrogen test and found a hole in condenser visit 3 was when the wrong unit was shipped to us and visit 4 was when we installed the correct unit. I was called on a Saturday with a demand to return that day to the homeowners house following guideline we informed the customer that we had 48 hours to return on recall he did not like my response and flipped out at that point I called in a technician on his day off to return to the home that day , I called (member name removed) that I called a tech in to work to help him and his response "Oh my tenants will not be home lets schedule for Monday" !! I felt like I was being man handled by a nasty customer so he felt like I was being rude I probably was because I was following guideline and then even called a tech in to work and then still got a unprofessional nightmare from nothing more than a man handling pissed off insane customer .. So this review has 2 sides of the story and then the truth,,,,"
