James and his son are professional, attentive to detail and thorough. They listened to our concerns about the house and explained patiently their findings. Would hire again in a heartbeat.

James was extremely thorough and provided a complete report. I wish I could've used him after I moved away. He is not the low cost inspector, but he is worth every cent he charges.

James was very thorough and knowledgeable while performing his inspection of a house we are purchasing. We are first time home buyers, and having James do such a comprehensive inspection was very important to us. His price may be a little higher than other home inspectors, but the piece of mind you get from his in-depth inspection is well worth it. We were very happy that we were able to get James Donohue to do our house inspection, and we would definitely recommend him to other home buyers.

This is actually our second time using Jim for a home inspection in the past 2 months.
He is amazingly thorough, and it took him around 6-7 hours to inspect as both were big houses.
He finds issues if they exist, and points out places where you might want to bring in someone who specializes
to be sure things are working as they should be. His general knowledge about everything is impressive.
Jim is a structural engineer so he looks at things from a very detailed engineer's point of view.
The cost is high, but what you get from it is priceless. We would highly recommend him to anyone.

Jim performed a very thorough home inspection on a home that is over 300 years old. He spent the entire day pouring over the home, barn, and garages. He even suited up and crawled through the various hand dug tunnels under the home in search of structural issues, mold, etc.

I called Jim's office to make an appointment and spoke with the very pleasant Bonnie. After explaining the situation she quickly made me an appointment and emailed me the necessary documents. Jim arrived on time, was very thorough, knowledegable and informative. Jim found mold in the attic that the home inspector should have found. In addition Jim also found the cause of the mold and the cause of the structural issues. Jim then went above and beyond and did a quick inspection of the entire home and gladly answered questions. A few weeks later we hired Jim as the home inspector of the home we eventually bought. Again, Jim did a very thorough job, answering questions and helping us to resolve various issues.

Called Jim's office 8/15/07 and scheduled an appointment for 8/18/07 to inspect a crack in the foundation of a home. (The crack was found by another home inspector who suggested we hire a structural engineer to determine the severity and any necessary repairs before we purchase the home.)I received an appointment for three days after I called. Jim met my husband at the site, and after inspecting the crack, he also spent time talking with my husband about other issues that came up on the original report. Jim gave good advice the types of people who specialize in the other issues so we could determine what was involved with the repairs, so we would be aware of the costs involved before negotiating with the seller. We also called Jim a few days after his inspection to obtain additional information. He was very responsive. I believe Jim is a home inspector who happens to be a structural engineer. In our case, hiring him to do the original home inspection would've saved money.
