We hired Amazing Tree to landscape our backyard. Matt at Amazing Tree is incredibly helpful and thoughtful about working with your needs to create a beautiful space. We had some requirements: reusing bricks from a previous patio, incorporating a very old bench from my husband’s late mother, space for a fire pit and hot tub, natural privacy from our neighbors, and an upgrade to our landscape lighting. The finished project was beyond our expectations! Matt and his crew planned and created a design using natural stone and curves that fit perfectly into our property. Special attention was paid to plant varieties to provide seasonal color. The project was completed earlier than projected and Matt and his crew were very professional.

I am absolutely thrilled with my new backyard!! A few years ago, I decided to hire someone to gut and makeover my bowling ally-shaped backyard. I'm pretty busy and waited until the summer to get estimates. That was my first mistake. By the time June rolls around, most of the quality companies are already busy, Amazing Tree included. Last year, I got an earlier (but not early enough) jump on the process and was able to get one estimate finalized. It was with a different company and during the installation of the patio, I had numerous issues with them. Based on the distance from the house, the patio was not dug deep enough to allow water to shed properly. Then, they placed a ton of dirt from the excavation along my cedar fence, rotting the bottom of the panels. For obvious reasons, the work stopped there and I waited to finish the yard until this year. Around March, I started the estimate process again with yet another company and Amazing Tree. The reason I decided to go with Matt is because he listened... his first design was a near-perfect match to what I had asked for and he included all of the elements I wanted. He also included some ideas I never would have thought of and absolutely love. It was also a finished design, as he included all of the details from tall trees to groundcover and stepping stones. Compare that to the two other designs I got... One was nothing like what I asked for, had a relatively cold and stark feel, and was much more expensive than Matt's design. The other was close, but he kept trying to sell me on additional details I didn't ask for and couldn't afford. When it came to specifics, Matt was also extremely patient with me. I have two dogs... one of which tries to eat every plant in sight. So, there was a lot of back-and-forth trying to find plants that fit the design, but were not toxic to dogs. In addition, he understood that my budget was a real issue. He adapted the design to my price-point and explained what we could cut and/or swap for less expensive plants. With respect to the installation, they followed the exact timeline Matt had explained a few weeks prior and his crew was respectful, helpful and skilled. I asked about 2000 questions during the process and every single one was answered without the annoyance or frustration they probably felt... it was a huge investment for me and, after a company tried to put in the patio at too shallow of a depth, I was watching everything. When the extension of the patio went in and I noticed that EP Henry had yet again slightly changed the colors of the pavers, Matt handled it with ease and made the patio look great, though I'm willing to bet it created a problem for them. On top of all of that, he happily made some last minute adjustments to the plans at my request and helped out with some details that were not included in the cost... they moved my old patio furniture, they buried landscape wire for me, Matt gave me some advice on where to place lights, etc. The finished product is actually more than I expected. He solved the problem with the dirt along the fence while also appropriately sloping everything away from the house. Once surrounded by a jungle of weeds I had no prayer of staying on top of, the patio now feels enveloped by slightly raised beds/berms that highlight the plants and help bring the flowers and butterflies a bit closer. The stepping stone paths to the gate and fire pit area are so easy and comfortable to use, even one of my dogs prefers to walk along them. The plants are beginning to sprout new leaves and it's now my absolute favorite place to be... literally. I couldn't be happier!

Never called never showed the one that did sucked said too much work too hot should not be in business too old

I asked for biweekly lawn mowing and they showed up once a week. They also took it upon themselves to do weeding that was not requested and then proceeded to bill me for double the services that I asked for. Extremely unethical. They do not deserve referrals of any kind. They are scam artists

This was our third quote and came right in the middle of the other two quotes. We liked how Matt described his ideas for the project. After we got the quote for the patio and discussed, we asked Matt if he would use some of the old brick to create a pathway from the front gate to the back gate of our yard, it was a mud trench from the wheelbarrow and dog. It was reasonably priced, so we added it onto our project. We had a fantastic experience working with Matt and his team. They finished our patio and pathway project in five days. Installed a new, larger patio to replace our aging and sinking one. We used brick for the main patio area and blue stone for the steps and border. We reused the brick from the patio to make the pathway. The spare bricks from our old patio were stacked for us to use at a later date. Whenever I had a question, Matt took the time to answer quickly and to my satisfaction. It was a pleasure working with him and we would definitely work with him in the future should we have additional projects for our landscape. I would recommend Amazing Tree Landscape Artists to anyone looking to spruce up the landscape of their home. No photos right now - waiting for our siding project to be completed next month.

Matt, the owner, is an artist when it comes to conceptualizing designs for outside spaces. He and his crew do a top notch job. Whenever I had a weather-related or other problem emerge, unrelated to the Amazing Tree's work, he responded with good advice and replaced plants as needed. We had a great relationship for 12 or 13 years. He was attentive to my needs as a customer throughout our long relationship. My only issue has been the overall cost of the services. They fall sort of in the mid range and are a hefty addition to spring-summer maintenance costs. Although it cost a lot of money to maintain both yards, I always felt the results were worth it. But a recent catastrophic illness and impending retirement have necessitated cutting back costs. So I have had to find another reputable landscaper to maintain my lawns and plant beds for less money. (Note that the price I provided is the annual contract, not the cost of initial installation, which was 4x as much for each yard.)

A new backyard! Matt is a real pleasure to work with! He's responsive, honest, earnest, helpful, smart, and intuitive! He designed a plan that expressed our vision better than we imagined. Amazing Tree built a real showpiece hardscape in no time, making sure to ensure fine quality meanwhile! We're excited to begin phase 2 of our project asap and love working with Amazing Tree. It's really nice to be able to trust Matt and the crew so much and know we're in capable, caring hands. We love them and know they will be handling all our outdoor needs!

Having felt comfortable with Matt personally and impressed with his design we decided to go forward. His detailed drawing and proposal made all the components and associated costs of the job clear. We were able to discuss questions and make changes easily as he was always available through email and text to discuss. We worked through all the details and, relatively quickly, came to a final agreement on design, components, and costs. One important note, at no point did Matt ever come off like a salesmen. He felt like an advisor; understanding what we wanted to get out of this whole project and doing everything he could to help us achieve the outcome we were looking for. Matt and his team were able to get started quickly, within a week or two, and quoted us two weeks to complete the work. While my wife and I both work, and were unable to be home most of the time, we know that Matt was on our property most days, both working himself and managing his team. He seemed to take a real hands on approach to the job, which we both liked. Through the two week work period, we were in constant contact with him. He answered our questions and addressed any concerns that popped up along the way. He also asked us questions when something would come up on his end to make sure we were ok with whatever he was doing. In short, the communication between us was fantastic. There were no surprises, on either end, all along the way. The end result of the work that was done by Matt and his team was phenomenal. Specifically, his stone cutters did amazing work, including fixing and amending a front paver walkway, adding a small natural stone walkway, and, to top it all off, turning a plain existing back patio, with old pavers, that was falling apart into an extraordinary bluestone creation (see attached before and after pics). The landscape work was just as good. Matt created beds that flowed together and incorporated existing aspects of the property. He made changes to plant placement from the original design based on what he saw as he was there placing each individual component, without sacrificing the general look we agreed on. And, he made sure to take into account any existing plants that we wanted to keep and incorporate them into his plan. Lastly, the landscape lighting was just the icing on the cake. We left it all up to him and it turned out simply beautiful. All in all, we could not be happier. The team worked fast and efficient and left our property clean and looking spectacular. We would highly recommend Amazing Tree for any of your landscape needs!

The whole process went extremely well and took only about 7 working days. Matt was great about keeping us up to date on the progress. He was patient with our questions and the crew was very professional and did a fantastic job. You can tell they take pride in their work as they should! Matt's crew even reused some of the brick from our old walkway and made an attractive, level area for our garbage cans (and he didn't even charge us for the labor to do that)! He also came up with a great idea to get rid of the ugly white rock by using it as a base underneath the new patio. All in all, we're very happy with Amazing Tree and look forward to adding more beautiful plantings at a later date.

When Matt came out to our first meeting, within 5 minutes of being in the yard he came up with the whole layout. He was able to see the potential in the yard that I have never been able to do. He created beautiful blue stone patio with stone steps going up to the patio, a fire pit area. He also created gardens around our pool with new steps to the pool. He created a perfect area for our new hot tub. His crew was always on time and worked all day, very professional. We love our new backyard and would use him again and recommend him to anyone.

I originally wasn't sure it was possible for Amazing Tree to make my property any more beautiful but they did. Middle of October I found myself in Portland Oregon. Portland was filled with amazing gardens and beautiful landscaping. While there, a crazy idea hit me and I reached out to the owner of Amazing Tree and told him my ideas. After I returned home, Matt came out to my property and we talked about my ideas and what I saw in OR. I told Matt I wanted a cutting garden along with a grotto with water for my Blessed Mary Statue. Matt scratched his head once or twice but I had no doubt that he could take my ideas and make magic happen. About two weeks later Matt showed up with his crew and a plan. He didn't even have one of his infamous drawings that I've grown find of but I wasn't worried. I was in good hands. Even when Matt told me he was going to make the trellis himself, I did not fret. I trusted him and his crew. I only wish I could show you pictures. The Grotto he made for me is truly remarkable. With a moving water feature and a little pond with beautiful plants and flowers. I can not wait for the little woodland creatures to visit my backyard. With Blessed Mary watching over my property. My cutting garden frames an amazing walkway with two trellises and I now have two benches. The walkway isn't just a straight line, but looks like the curves of a woman's body and sincerely adds to the beauty. I have lighting along the pathway and more landscape lights illuminating my grotto and when I open my patio doors, all I can hear is the gentle whisper of the water. My one regret, the one thing that I wish I could change? I wish I had more available land for Matt to work his magic with. That is my only regret. Trust Amazing Tree. Trust Matt. You won't regret it. Always outstanding work; excellent attention to detail Have used this landscaping service for years. They designed my landscape, and they maintain it well. It is stunning. As a small business landscaper, they are a bit on the expensive side, which is why I rated that B.

The provider gave me a very rough estimate of the cost of the work, which I accepted and said he would give me a more precise written proposal. He never did. I called him a couple of times, and he even called back at one point and said he'd gotten busy. But he never provided the written proposal. Fortunately, I was able to provide a responsible landscaper who performed the work at a significantly lower cost than Amazing Tree had quoted in its initial estimate.

Matt Cosenza and his company were recommended to me by the pool designer with whom I worked when I first moved into my newly constructed home. Matt came to visit, brought photos of other work, discussed my landscaping interests and his style, and after we realized we were a good match (I had brought in other landscapers for estimates as well), created a design for my front yard to bring back to me for my review and approval. I loved his ideas and hired him to do the work. The front took 2 weeks (memory is a bit vague on this) to install; the later work on my back yard took a similar time frame. Later we installed the path lighting. Matt's designs are highly creative and visually multidimensional. I think of his work like that of an artist. He has an excellent sense of design, high and low, varied natural elements, and balance of color and greenery. He also has a good sense of what types of plants are appropriate to this region of the country. I absolutely love his landscape designs, as does just about everyone who walks by my front yard or visits me. It is definitely a standout. I felt the costs (which I do not now recall exactly) were a little high, but I was willing to go with it for the beauty and creativity of the work. I felt and still feel it was well worth it. The Amazing Tree crew has continued to maintain my landscapes over the years. In the spring, we usually "walk" the front and back yards, discuss concerns, decide if new plantings are in order, and move forward with that. When I am not happy with something, they are responsive. I have bugged his crew for years about not cutting my lawn so short (keep it to 3 inches) or so often, as this is what is healthier for the lawn (promotes stronger, healthier grass plants), according to my extensive research on this. Every year, I do have to run out and stop them the first time they come two weeks after the first spring cut and the lawn has only grown slightly. Apparently, the going height of 1 inch is what they are used to and what others want, but it is not what I want, and they tend to forget this each year. But after I remind them, they usually keep the lawn to about 3 inches, and they are always willing for me to give them a call and tell them when the lawn has gotten long enough to need a trim. Overall, I have been very happy with Amazing Tree's work for me. The annual landscaping contract is a big ticket item for me, but my yards are extensive; Matt lets me divide my payments out over the year into monthly payments, and I continue to be very happy with Amazing Tree's work and responsiveness. The one thing I do wish they would work on is recognizing and treating plant disease. Although my original bushes lasted about 10 years (and many still live beyond that and are quite healthy), several in the front (9 or 10) got some sort of disease that over 2-3 years killed off the leaves, little by little. I called this to Matt's attention each year, but he was not sure what to do about it, chalked it up to normal plant life in the region, and by last spring, several bushes had to be removed. I don't know if 10 years is a normal life span for these bushes or if landscapers are supposed to know how to recognize and treat diseases, but this is one area in which I would love to see Amazing Tree expand.

They are expensive, but they are awesome. Their clean-up was great. The owners design ascetic is beyond anyone else that I could have got. The designs are completely unique. We did have to call them back to fix the wall, he said there was no charge needed, due to their first mistake, but they did charge us in the end. There might be other charges if they do have to come back and I would let Angie's List members know that.

He is a really personable guy and he is low key. There are no high pressure sales. He is helpful and listens to what my needs are. He is a great guy and is easy to work with. His pricing is competitive.

The stonework was supposed to match an existing fireplace, but it did not even come close.

They were good to work with and he will do anything he can to make the situation right. He is very creative in his landscape designs.

My start date was slotted for 5/18/14 and the Friday before I heard from the owner to let me know his team would be on site that Monday. As the project moved along, I was continuously be kept up to date with the time line and the progress. I tend to be a nudge (or so my husband says) and Matt welcomed the additional questions. He was on site daily for at least a period of time which was great to know because I knew if I had questions, they would be addressed. Matt coordinated with the other contractors on site to make sure that everything that was promised was completed. When I had an irrigation specialist come on site, Matt worked with them so that there were no delays. They really were Amazing and made my backyard an absolute oasis. I have a water feature that turns the whole area into a serene relaxation location. Amazing Tree has an amazing artist on board that created a mosaic wall for me. My husband and I went to Alaska for our honeymoon, and Stephanie took our memories and pictures and created the most beautiful piece of art. Truly blew us away. Honestly was the best decision I've made this year! After my project was finished, I did hire Amazing tree to maintain my grass and my backyard oasis and they have continued to amaze me. The team shows up and they take care of my property. I really do not have to worry about much. It makes a total difference when working with a company that cares about their customers. The owners are always available to me if I have a question. Just this past month we had a terrible storm come through and I had a lot of storm damage. Matt was available the day after the storm to discuss what happened and he had his crew out to my house that week to clean up the down limbs and the complete mess that the storm made. It really is refreshing to see a company that cares. One last thing I have to say is that it was really nice to see the owner out and actually working on my yard. He wasn't just some voice on the phone that I talked to, or some guy that showed up just to tell people what to do. He actually got his hands dirty. To me this means that he not only is good at running his business, but that he loves what he does and that means he cares about what the finished product is going to be. It truly means a world of difference. Oh and he knows his plants! I would be out driving around and I would email him a picture of a plant that I found interesting or pretty and he would know exactly what the plant was. The latin name as well! Impressive. Go with Amazing Tree. I promise you won't be disappointed.
