SMOKEY'S CHIMNEY SVC

We were fairly happy with the service. On hindsight I wish we had used the other company, but Smokey’s was good. They were very prompt, they worked very hard and got everything done in a good amount of time. They cleaned up after themselves, which was great. I have a double sided fireplace, and I asked them to seal off the back side of the fireplace because it wasn’t very efficient having two openings. They sealed the opening with just regular masonry brick, they didn’t use the fire bricks which should be used on the inside of the fireplace. That gives an extra layer of insulation. If I don’t have that fire brick on the inside, over time the bricks at the back side of the fireplace get really hot and they start to blacken. We have seen that in my mother in law’s house, she has the exact same house that we have. So, we had to call them back to do that work, which they were more than willing to do. But they didn’t make it clear at the beginning when I hired them for the job, that firebrick was not included. I thought that it was a standard safety thing that they would do. When a fireplace is lined, fire bricks should be used. I was very happy with the rest of their work, they sealed up the fireplace, and the back side of the fireplace looks great. The chimney looks good with the cap on, and they did a wonderful job of cleaning everything. I don’t think the previous owner of the house ever cleaned his fireplace.
