He did not show up for the first several appointments. When he finally came he repaired the leak and had his crew repair the sheetrock & paint damage. I didn't climb the roof to inspect the repair but the sheetrock/painting were messy; not professional. I was not comfortable with the crew who performed the work & although I mentioned it to the owner, I didn't want them inside my house again, I didn't have them redo it. Several weeks later, I noticed another roof leak & called them back to find they had not inspected the entire roof. When I insisted on the inspection, they recommended replacing the entire roof & gutter guards. Since the roof was 30yrs old & already had 2 roofs, the project involved ripping the old ones off. They completed replacing the roof shingles in a timely manner, however, in the process they dropped materials through the roof and damaged the sheetrock inside the home (oh no, they needed to come inside my home again!). Additionally, their careless practices damaged 2 window screens and my vinyl siding. The complete roof/gutter guard replacement took over 12 months to finish! Incredible! Several issues were never resolved as I just wanted the project finished! Oh yes, early on in the process we signed ANOTHER contract for a $20,000+ addition to my home (before I knew their competence level). We signed the contract 2 days before Hurricane Sandy hit; afterwards I was completely understanding and told him to attend to those in need. I waited & called & waited, etc. After almost 2 years, & repeated calls, the owner, William Barto, said he underbid the job and didn't want to do it!!! At this point I was very willing to let him out of the contract. To add insult to injury, instead of returning my deposit, he wanted to work it off!!! William Barto, owner of Builders Unlimited (Forked River, NJ) although quite personable, gives contractors a BAD NAME!
Description of Work: Hired him to fix a leaky roof and repair water damage to sheetrock. However, since he didn't inspect the entire roof, I needed to hire again to repair another leak and subsequently replace the entire roof.
