i called the number on a flier and got a prompt return call, and a personal visit within a day or two. he listened carefully and designed the project in several scenarios, with realistic allowances for certain materials and the option for us to purchase them ourselves. his estimate was completely itemized and the contract was user friendly. ken has a rich scope of experience and a highly organized mind and vision for complex and current updating. he will respect your budget. we opted to pay primarily for a combination his labor and many of his materials, but to purchase certain items ourselves (i.e., grantite countertop and installation). ken worked with us in the sense of seeking our feedback daily so we would all be happy with the projects as they progressed and were completed. he has a genuine work ethic and while he doesn't voice it, i think he takes humble-but-justifiable pride in a job well done. he was in our home - unobtrusively for a month+. he works on things in his workshop as well as your house. in my opinion, you can't go wrong. we interviewed several contractors, a few a bit less expensive, some more expensive. my 'gut' never wavered from him, and i'm glad.
