The first door which was an Andersen French door was installed completely incorrectly. He installed the door contrary to Andersen installation instruction and basic carpentry standards as well. At the request of Jerome I took a day off from work to show him how the door should be installed after his poor installation. After showing Jerome how the door swung open on its own and how the door was not plumb, level or square I asked him if he would accept this installation in his own home , his response was " No " . He reinstalled the door and still couldn't get it right and said he did his best but just could not get it right. The second door also had issues. As per Andersen installation instruction and basic home construction all exterior doors must be installed with flashing in the rough opening prior to installing the door. I gave a full roll of the necessary flashing to Jerome , he never installed it and installed the door in the rough opening with no flashing whatsoever behind it. This door was also installed crooked and he had to reinstall this one as well. I asked why he didn't install the flashing the second time around, he said it was too difficult to remove because he had put caulking under the base. Jerome seems to be a very nice man and does run a clean job but I find it hard to believe based upon the work completed in my home that he has the skills or experience to call himself a carpenter. Also , in his website he states that he is recommended by Anderson windows (I'm assuming he's referring to Andersen window co. even though it's misspelled on his website). After speaking with reps from Andersen and directly with the company they informed me that they have never heard of Jerome (if Jerome is in fact recommended please respond with a contact person). Jerome reduced the amount of the balance at the end of the job to compensate my lost day at work, I paid him exactly what he requested even though I was not nearly satisfied. He said he did the best he could. I have been in the construction industry for 30 years and could honestly say I have never seen such poor door installations. By his own admission Jerome said he would not accept this work in his own home. I understand he has a lot of good reviews, I can only guess that he usually uses subcontractors to correctly install doors. Jerome , you may rebut this review if you wish but it is 100% fact. After your response which in fact did not dispute any of the facts I have listed I would like to ask a question. I supplied you with the necessary 3M flashing which is required by common building practices , Building code and the manufacturer of the exterior door. My question is - Did you install it in the rough opening as required and why didn't you ? I'm getting three prices from local contractors to remove the door and flash the opening as required. I will follow up with you afterwards.
"Nothing in this world is "Perfect" After 30 + years in the renovation industry you come to realize that sometimes you have to work within a "tolerance" or adapt to the existing conditions. I suggest the next time you hire someone to work in your home that you speak about your "expectations" up front and not at the end of the job. I came back to correct whatever I could, the best that I could and took $500 off my final payment. Anybody else would have been more than happy with my performance. I entered your job as a professional and I exited as a Gentlemen,"
Jerome met with us, listed to our design ideas, offered suggestions and helped us design the bathroom of our dreams. He and his crew were prompt, professional and clean. He met all of the expected deadlines, used high quality parts and put us in touch with is group of preferred suppliers (granite, tile, etc.) who all worked with the same level of professionalism and quality of Jerome and Beautiful Bath. We found the cost to be commensurate with the quality of the work that was performed.
I would (and have) recommended Jerome and Beautiful Bath to several of my friends and colleagues and will continue to do so. We are
so happy with the job that was done we have begun to plan our next home improvement project and will definitely be using Jerome and his team.
"I was looking forward to showing you how this type of work is performed correctly. I'm happy to have been able to help out."
would be done neatly and in a timely manner. Everything I was promised Jerome delivered. Workmanship is top quality. I was looking for an affordable, honest, quality contractor, and now after the job is complete I can honestly say, Jerome was that contractor. I highly recommend his business, Beautiful Bathrooms and more.
"Thank you for the kind words (member name removed). It was a pleasure working along with you on that project. Until next time. J. R. Ferullo"
"Thank you very much for your "A" rating and your feedback. I will be sure to advise all my future clients that we are much more than a one man band, we are a full renovation company. While I may not have time to personally work "hands on" at every job every day, I absolutely take the time to oversee every aspect of every job, every day. This is my guarantee."
The town inspectors also commented on the attention to detail and quality of workmanship they observed. I highly recommend Beautiful Bathrooms & More.
"Thank you for your A rating. Your "appreciation" was felt throughout the job. That alone always goes a long way for contractor's. It makes us want to naturally do more for our clients, without asking for more $$ from them."
This project began because we were interested in removing the wall that separated our kitchen, dining room and living room. We have been living in this house for 15 years and rarely used the formal dining room. Our kitchen was 25 years old and was in need of a face lift. We felt that the open concept would add much more value to our home both monetarily as well as for our own enjoyment.
We contacted Jerome Ferullo, owner of Beautiful Bathrooms, because we have been working with Jerome on all of our renovations for at least 25 years.
Jerome introduced us to a kitchen designer that helped to create the layout of the kitchen. Jerome did all the demolition of the kitchen and dining room. This included removal of a tile floor that was laid down on top of 1 ½ inches of cement. We live in a bi-level house, which had a wood-burning fireplace in our downstairs family room with a chimney that came up through the dining room. We instructed Jerome to remove the fireplace so that we could achieve the open concept we desired. However, when he started to remove the dual sided fireplace that sat in the middle of the family room, he discovered that the framing was structural, so it would need to be removed and replaced with a gas fireplace. Anyone who owns a home and has done renovations in the past knows that you have to be prepared for surprises and one change can create more changes than anticipated.
Jerome contracted with all the subcontractors we needed (plumbers, electricians and granite and tile installers). He also introduced us to a flooring specialist who helped us find the hardwood floor we wanted. We already had hardwood floors in our dining room and living room, but we wanted to replace them with flooring that was more contemporary (wider boards) and that would flow into the kitchen.
Jerome and his team prepared the floor for the installation of the new floor (removal of old floor and repairs), installed all the cabinets and appliances, built a broom closet, and installed the new fireplace (after the plumber ran the gas line). We were responsible for selecting all the appliances, hardware and lighting. A project of this size is not without problems and my husband and I can be very demanding. We are perfectionists and demand the same of others. One of the reasons we like working with Jerome is that he listens to your concerns and makes every effort to please his customers. He is trust worthy, and responsive. I received phone calls from Jerome at the end of most days providing me with an update on progress and status. When I arrived home if I still had questions, I would call Jerome on my way into the office to address my questions. He was always available for my calls. The remodel was a 4 month project. There were delays due to changes we made and waiting for parts or inspections. We lived in the house for all but 2 weeks of the project and Jerome and his team cleaned up at the end of each day.
We highly recommend Jerome Ferullo for any remodeling project. He is a true professional.
"Thank you so much for your A rating and your trust these past 20 years or so. Your attention to details & open, honest communication helps to keep me at the top of my game."
Jerome has instructed us to contact him as soon as all of the materials arrived at out home. His team (which included carpentry. plumbing and electricians) were very professional and always on time. The bathroom area was completed in less 1 week. We are very happy with our new bathroom. The type of porcelain tile and border design that we went with gives our new bathroom a very cool "Romanesque" type of feel and look. So happy with it. I highly recommend using Beautiful Bathrooms for all of your future bathroom designs and remodeling projects.
But, we gave him the benefit of the doubt and decided to hire him based on his website and proposal the first time we met.
Starting from day 1 I had an instinctively terrible feeling about the remodel. I also discovered that when Jerome mentioned he and two of his men would attend for the demolishing of the bathroom, he meant that his men would do the actual work, while he supervised for an hour or so to guide his men what needs to be done. Additionally, we also discovered that Jerome (as a General Contractor) don't actually dedicate any work or skills to the jobs himself, but have his sub-contractors do 90% of the work for him. This would have been acceptable if he had disclosed and helped us understand the model of his business and what he will and will not be doing. But clearly, this was something he failed to do.
Within a few hours, the agreement cost of the remodel went up due to the discovery of plaster behind our walls.
At this point, I had no experience or knowledge of plaster removal and the terms & conditions of hiring an 8x12 trash container, but I was informed by a family friend who is also in the business that containers have an allocation of weight based on the size of containers. First of all, the discovery of plaster should and could have been done/removed on the same day/Day 1 of demo, instead his workers left around 3pm and decided to return the next day, hence costing us another demo day, which proved my suspected time frame the next day. Second of all, the extra couple of hundred dollars for the "additional" weight put on the disposal container should have been nothing for him, given that all of his charges are mainly labor, as we had to purchase all fixtures, vanities, finishes, etc .. ourselves. Nonetheless, after addressing some concerns, I decided not to be bothered with an additional demo day just to remove plaster, and the added weight the plaster will bring to the container.
(Note: the only fixtures included in his cost is a basic toilet & basic bath tub (I didn't approve nor like) and shower fixture)
For the amount of work and hours spent on supervising the project, including the countless times Jerome asked us to double check measurements and perform work that he failed to do/remember the day he was on-site or when his sub-contractors were here, is not worth the amount he charges for his projects. Not only Jerome takes on too many projects at a time, spreading his time and work thin on individual projects, he also does not manage his time and the projects to the satisfactory that is should be.
Suffice to say, there was a lot of work I had to complete once he left my project; such as painting, repairing grout work Jerome stained with silicone, and complete light installation. And being 7-8 months pregnant at the time, it was not a pleasant task.
At the end of the day, for the amount we paid, should I have known the partially complete outcome and work we had to put in, we would have spent the extra few dollars with an actual trustworthy & proven business.
After this experience, I will be more diligent and research with how different businesses proceed with my projects and who can deliver the outcomes, as consumers, we desire.
"As the saying goes "there are two sides to every story" I have been in business for 30 years and plan on being around for quite a while longer. My reputation means everything to me. I am known for going the extra mile to please my customers. Feel free to review many references on my web-site. I am a certified CPR contractor: Clean, Professional, & Reliable! Thank you."
every step of the way. He shows up on time and delivers a high level
of craftsmanship. My house was always left
spotless at every turn. It's hard to find dedicated and honest people
in the contractor business. Jerome Delivers on what he promises and truly
appears to love his craft. Highly Recommended!
