 + -1 moreFrank was very professional and was willing to make things right in the end. However, the repair took weeks longer than originally contemplated. When car was finally ready, I had to point out that there was no lining in the trunk when I picked it up. I feel like this was something obvious that I should not have had to point out and my frustration was magnified by the long delay. The letters identifying the make and model from the back of my car were also missing which I did not bother to mention as I was not too concerned with (others may ahve been). In addition, a component of the docking station from my sirius satellite radio was missing from the car when i picked it up. To Frank's credit, he gave me $ for the missing staellite radio piece and came to my house to take a look at the missing trunk liner, handle etc. He also compensated for the rental car out of pocket that I had to pay resulting from the extensive delays to the repair. In the end, I was satisfied by Frank's willingness to make things right but the weeks of delay sticks out in my mind as well as the lack of attention to detail. Hopefully, this was an exception to the norm due to Frank being very busy at the time.

Description of Work: Our car was rear-ended, causing damage to the liftgate, bumper, back-up camera/sensors, and even the frame. Frank fixed it all.

Description of Work: When my regular mechanic whom I trusted for 15 years told me that 'the noise I was hearing was coming from the front driver side was caused by front driver side BUSHING that needed to be replaced and it would be $200-$220.' Having a very good reason to suspect that this may not be so, I went on Angie's List and found Brendan's. When I took the car in, I only described my concern, never saying that another mechanic looked and gave me an estimate. Brendan's mechanic raised the car on the lift and tightened loose bolts and charged $29.40. (the receipt reads RETORQUE RACK and PINIONS) There is a big difference between $200.00 and $29.00. When I asked about the possibility of the bushing, he told be that in the near future I may want to consider the rear bushings, but the front are in good condition. He checked them all, he told me, and they are good. Next, I took and had extensive "preventive work" done and feel I am all set for the winter and probably for the next year. Since this visit I took the car in for annual inspection. At the same time I asked about an oil change but he told me to bring it in when the milage on the odometer is what the oil change sticker reads, or close to it. He checked the oil at no charge. I so enjoy dealing with people who show respect, are honest and polite. I love dealing with Brandan's at 76-36 164th St. Fresh Meadows, NY. The owner is very polite, very attentive, very accommodating. When I dropped my car off the 2nd time, to save me time having to travel by bus, he told me he will be going home in few minutes, and he and his family live only few blocks away from me, he will be happy to drop me off. I was happy to accept. Saved me time and money not traveling by bus. All the mechanics are very polite. The receptionist is very polite and very helpful. They provide EXCELLENT SERVICE. All are very professional. Could not ask for better. I am his customer for life. Be honest and show me respect and I am your loyal customer for life.

 + -1 moreI have to call them early morning around 7:30 for a service which I thought was the rear drum brakes making the noise. Needless to say, I was wrong. The rear wheel bearings are the problem. They suggested to do the fronts brakes as well since it's almost needs replacements. Not only that they accomodated me that day and promised that the job will be finished that same day (considering they have a lot of cars on their lot), they also pointed out minor things that they know will make the car last longer. They found out also about the cam seal oil leak which I already know. These really do care for your car.
Description of Work: Replaced all front brakes with new rotors/brake pads. Replaced wheel cylinder on rear brakes and bleed rear brake lines .

 + 0 moreI took the car to Frank's auto for wheel alignment. Another mechanic looked at it and told me that wheels are pointing inward and might need body work. I took the car here, because of great reviews on Angie's list. They took care of my car and it just need alignment. The also provided me with printout of before and after, which was helpful. Mechanic was very knowledgeable and helpful. At the end of the day they gave me 10% discount, free car wash and free brake light change without asking. I would recommend Frank's auto to anyone.

 + -1 moreIt went extremely well overall, with no complaints. I believe my car had been sabotaged by my local Toyaota dealer in Morristown ,NJ, but this was not easily proven. (This idea of sabotage is not a paranoid delusion but turns out to be shared by several people I know who use the place. But I digress).So I used Angie's List to find a service location not too far away from my home. Frank 's place is a bit too distant for convenience, but he responded to my late night E-mail early the next morning and we set up an appointment. The work went perfectly well as noted above. As I was leaving , I said that I would love to use the shop for routine maintenance but that it was too far from my home. Frank looked at the address on my work order and said that he lived half way between his shop and my home. Amazingly, he then noted that he would be glad to come pick up the car at my home or have me drive it to his home , whichever worked best! Altogether, a startlingly refreshing , honest, and pleasant experience. Thank you ,Angie

 + -1 moreI chose Frank's because of all the good reviews I saw here but my own experience is that they are incompetent. I had two problems I wanted fixed. When filling the gasoline tank the pump would shut off before the tank was full. The check engine light was on and showing a code of P0420 which according to the service manual means "Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold". They said they could do nothing about the tank filling problem because they couldn't reproduce it. To fix the code they replaced the front catalytic converter and reset the code. The code came back that evening so I returned the next day. This time they replaced the exhaust flex fitting and reset the code. The code came back a couple days later but I didn't return immediately because I didn't want to spend any more money yet. Over time the tank filling problem kept becoming worse so I returned on June 7th, 2012 with the same problems I had six months earlier. I was told they needed to order a part to fix the tank filling problem and that they would call me when it arrived. All they did for the check engine light was reset the code. After not hearing from them for a week I called them but was told Frank was away and no one else knew anything about my part. I was told Frank would call when he returned. I'm still waiting for that call. I researched the tank filling problem on the Web and found it was a common one with my model car. Folks said that the cause was usually a clog in the air drain hose of the charcoal canister assembly. So I crawled under the car, stuck a screwdriver into the end of the hose and pulled out some sort of insect webbing. That fixed the tank filling problem. The code P0420 problem I haven't tackled yet.
Description of Work: Replaced front catalytic converter and replaced front exhaust flex fitting.

I am happy to say I have no more issues with my emergency brakes. I will have my car serviced by him again. Very professional service. Top notch.
Description of Work: I am a owner of a 2004 Mazda 6. My emergency brakes and rotors were not working properly. I have a 5 speed manual transmission and I constantly use the emergency brakes when I park my car. Frank took a look and was very honest about the problem. I needed new calipers and rotors.

Moving from Ohio, I wanted to find a mechanic I could trust and found him via rating on the web and Angie's list. This is the first time I had my car serviced with him. Frank was honest enough to say that the car passed inspection without the need to change the sensor causing the engine light on as this was not picked up for some reason by the system and the engine light went off. What I appreciated the most, is that he took the time to show me the condition/rust/warping on the breaks pads & rotor and how used up the tires were to explain me they needed to be changed. We discussed the cost, found a reasonable solution and he also gave me 10% off. Price was also comparable to what my prior trusted mechanic would charge in Cleveland (called to check) Great job, affordable + honest, friendly and great customer service !!! Would recommend to anyone!

 + -1 more7023They fit us in very quickly they do not provide loaner cars but if you need a rental you can get one. They checked the car which needed quite a bit of maintenance and were able to get the car back to us the next day. They recommended a few extra things as the car is older and has a lot of miles. They did not over charge for anything, were extremely polite and did a great job. I will continue going to them and recommend them highly!

Although I think that they did more work than necessary - they were polite, prompt and very friendly. Told me what needed to be done, how long it would take, and how much it would be. They delivered as promised, excellent quality, on time and surprisingly slightly less than the estimate. Not only is Frank fantastic with customers, it is also obvious that he has trained his staff the same way. Everyone i came in contact with either over the phone or face to face were friendly and courteous. I hope i never have another accident in my car but if I do there is only one place I would consider bringing my vehicle.

 + 0 moreExcellent repair work, top-notch service and true professionalism. I first brought my car to Frank's Auto about a year ago. My car is a 1999 with over 180,000 miles. When my former mechanic failed to identify a recurring issue after three visits, I began searching on Angie's List. During my first visit with Frank, he identified the issue (spark plugs and coil boots needed replacement) and did a superb job on the repair. Since that time, he and his staff have done some other repairs and overall servicing of the car. I have always been pleased with the result. Frank is very knowledgeable and honest. He thoroughly explains the issue and recommended solution. The pricing is fair and the work is completed within a very reasonable timeframe. Beyond the excellent repair work, the visit is always a pleasant experience. Frank, his wife Tracy and the staff are very professional and courteous. It's clear that outstanding customer service is the priority. They also provide some great perks that set them apart -- It was such a nice surprise to have my car returned to me washed with some lottery tickets inside. I also received a follow up call and thank you note after my visit. I'm very glad to have found Frank's Auto. It's an exceptional place and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

 + -1 moreI went to Frank's because my wife's car has 41,000 miles on it, and I never had the brakes done. I've been told in the past, by other repair shops, I should do the brakes. I told Frank to do them. After looking at the car, he told me I do not need to do them now. I should have another 8,000 miles on them. I also had a rattle, that turned out to be a loose metal cover, where the area around the screws rusted away. He removed the cover, and told me it did not need to be replaced. He did not charge me anything. It's good to finally have a honest shop to take my cars to.

They are competitive. We checked the prices with other people and the price is definitely on the lower end of the scale. They are friendly. My girlfriend’s father does some car repairs in New York, where everything’s much cheaper than here, and he said the prices were very competitive compared to there.

 + -1 moreWe found Franks on Angies's List. They are excellent! We had taken my wife's car to someone else, and they told her she needed a brake job. That didn't work out, because she was still having problems. We took it to Frank's, and they fixed it in one shot! Their pricing was very fair, and they did a good job. They pushed us up a little bit because my wife needed her car the next Monday. They were very knowledgeable, honest and fair priced. We would definitely use Frank's in the future.
