I needed to get my dryer repaired, and wanted to use a credit card instead of cash or check. This reduced the number of eligible providers. Called American Pride Appliance on Tuesday afternoon, and left a message. Received a call back from Tony within 15 minutes. Explained the problem, and asked to schedule an appointment for Thursday. He phoned back later in the day and gave me a 3 hour window, between 11 AM - 2 PM.. Showed up on Thursday at 11:15. Listened to the dryer, and opened it up. Able to immediately diagnose the problem, but needed to order the part. He put the dryer back together so it could be used in the meantime. Said he could order it for delivery on Friday, and was I available Saturday morning. Gave me an estimate of $150.00. Tony left me a message that he received the part Friday afternoon, and would be by between 8:30 - 10:30 Saturday morning. Arrived at 8:45, went right to work, and was done in 15 minutes. Final cost was $159.95. While the service call charge was a little higher than others advertised on Angie's List, the total cost for the repair is far less than buying a new one. I understand you are not paying for just the time spent, but for their expertise. Getting the job done right and honestly is worth paying a little more.
My ONLY complaint is that it had been raining all week, and when Tony came in, he did not wipe his feet, or offer to put booties on. Needed to wipe down the floors. Otherwise, I would highly recommend Tony to any of my neighbors.
One thing to know is that he doesn't usually answer his phone if he is in the middle of a service job - I think this is a good thing! He does check his voicemails a few times a day and does return calls promptly when he is free.
