Appliance Repair
I had an unpleasant experience with Dan Marc Appliance last November, when they came to repair a KitchenAid dishwasher that was under warranty. The tech was supposed to replace the motherboard because the top controls were not working. He took the dishwasher apart and tried to leave it as it was because he did not have the necessary part in his truck. When I asked him to put the dishwasher back together, he yelled at me and tried to go at me with his screwdriver, than ran out of the house. It a few phone calls to get another tech and a service manager to make things right and a whole day to get it done. I would not have hired these guys to repair anything ever again, but, we had an issue with the doors of a brand new Whirlpool fridge we bought from Costco, and had to use these guys because they are authorized by Whirlpool to make warranty repairs. The tech who came to our house did not bring a new set of doors as Whirlpool customer service said he would. He had no plans to replace the doors at all. Despite the insulation sticking out from the top of both doors and cracked plastic, the tech stated that all doors came like that, but if we wanted new ones, he'd order us a set. It took two weeks for the first door to arrive. We called Dan Marc and asked to install it. They refused. They told us to wait until the second door arrived. Meanwhile, the door sat in our garage... for another week. I called Dan Marc and asked to pick up the door and cancel the order for the other door because we decided to return the fridge. I got a nasty attitude from the woman who picked up the phone, but the door was picked up in another day or two. The day after that, the second door came. I called Dan Marc again and asked them to get the second door. The same woman told me that she would check the schedule, but forgot to put me on hold and I heard her tell someone, "Can you believe it, these ******** called again?" It took another four days for them to pick up the second door. I am never buying another Kitchenaid or Whirlpool appliance because these people service the warranty.

They installed the wrong hinges (used lower door hinges rather than upper door hinges) and after 4 months the door won't seal. It is clear from various websites that the hinges installed for the upper doors are a different part number than the lower doors; however, they used the lower door hinges on the upper oven door. They now want me to pay them to make a service call to confirm what should be obvious from a review of the parts and if they then agree it was their mistake, they will do the work for free. I won't pay them another penny to correct their mistake. I would rather pay someone else to do it right even if it costs me more in the end. I don't trust them at all and their phone people are extremely rude. All they care about is scheduling a service call for $115 rather than taking responsibility for their mistake. I will never deal with these people again.

We were burned and lied to by Dan Marc Appliance (of Fairfield, NJ). First we were burned by their technicians and then burned by their Service Manager who led us to believe we would be compensated for a 3 foot long gash in our linoleum caused by their service technicians. On Aug 30, 2016, Kitchen Aid contracted with your company to do warranty work on our 1.5 week old refrigerator. The fridge temperature was not maintaining proper temperature. So two service technicians were dispatched to our home on August 30th: Jason and Ronnie. Jason must have been having a very bad day because he was very rough with our new fridge, slamming the fridge doors repeatedly. Then he and Ronnie lifted up the front of the fridge to move the fridge, and a back wheel fell off of the unit. Then they left our fridge on 3 wheels instead of what should have been 4 wheels. They thought it was acceptable to leave our brand new fridge --wobbling and leaning-- Who does this type of thing?!! My husband reached under the fridge and found the 4th wheel, laying there, unattached. Not wanting Dan Marc technicians back in our home, we called the store where we purchased our fridge, and they had their delivery person come out to re-install the wheel which that gentleman did quickly. Our horror story with Dan Marc didn't end there because before they left our home, their service technician Jason pushed the fridge back into place and that's when he left a 3 foot long gash in our linoleum floor!! Now, the linoleum needs to be replaced. And since we have the same linoleum in 3 rooms, all 3 rooms must be changed out. So, we immediately called Dan Marc after these jokesters left our home. We even sent their manager a picture of the damages only 10 minutes after they left our home. On September 6, we finally got their Service Manager, George, out to our home. He agreed about the damages and was even talking prices to repair, starting at $500 but also complaining to us about how their insurance prices would go up. WTH!!. And, GUESS WHAT, that was all a lie anyway. NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. NO CHECK. So, we can’t get anyone from Dan Marc to take responsibility for this damage. And now we need to replace the linoleum in 3 rooms so it all matches. We were only asking for $$ to apply to the linoleum in the room where the damaged happened. We are reasonable people: We understand accidents happen but Dan Marc Appliance won’t even take responsibility for the jobs that their subcontractors do!!! BEWARE: Many manufacturers use these jokesters including: Whirlpool, Kitchen-Aid, Maytag, Jen-Air. And they use them because Dan Marc must low ball their offers to work. Moral of the Story: If you don't have to use these people, don't. Call anyone else but not Dan Marc Appliance. They may also operate under Dan Marc Factory Service.

I came to Dan Marc through whirlpool.com and wow. What a horrible experience. To the point where I cancelled the service call just based upon the horrible customer service. After the 3rd useless and rude call, I checked out Angie's List, Google, and Yelp! reviews and way too many people experienced not only the horrible customer service experience I had, but they also had horrible "resolutions" (I used that word loosely). I had 3 calls from them - all to the wrong number (It was the back up number) and they kept saying they would correct it. They did not and in fact, told me that I must be forwarding my phones to each other (??). I even check that but it was not true ... they just refused to take the new number. Although the whirlpool.com site says you can pick your window of time and get texts, they told me that window was "not real" and they would not sends texts and they would call me with a window from 9-5 day before. If I couldn't make it, I could just take another day off of work. I believe these guys are in business because they have contracts with the Whirlpools and Home Depots of the world. I have written to Whirlpool to have them check out further the company they allow to represent them and repair the products. The fee would have been $109.00 for the service call, non-refundable. I have found another repair place in Jersey City that will roll the service call into the costs of repairs, if necessary. No thank you to this company. I would not want anyone that rude and incompetent inside my home.

These guys were hands down the worst contractor i have ever dealt with in 20 years of home ownership. Here's what happened. The freezer in my kitchenaid french door refrigerator can no longer hold temperature. Service call #1 - Technician open fridge doors, checks out my leftovers and proclaims i need a new computer. I'm going to want to think about, he says, since it costs $1000. Total service call time - 15 minutes, including time for tech to return to truck to charge my credit card. Service Call #2 - New tech. He arrives knowing we have decided to go with the new computer. He tells me we don't need a new computer. Replaces a condenser fan instead. Tells me this probably won't work, but it only costs a few bucks. Repair does not work. Now, faith shaken in Dan Marc, i call Sears, another authorized repair company. Although they do not repair built in models, their tech was able to diagnose the problem, and describe the fix. Tells me to call Dan Marc back, and "Good Luck with those guys." Service call #3 - same tech as #2. Comes in a with a chip on his shoulder, knowing i have called in outside opinion. Demands to see all previous receipts. Throws open fridge doors, ***** his head in the cool air and stands silent. For SEVEN minutes. Tired of the refrigerator whisperer act, i lose my patience. Explain the actual problem. He says "I'm going to have to order parts, it's going to be $950 and that probably won't work." I ask him to get out of my house. I just want someone to fix my freezer. Dan Marc is no longer returning my calls, refusing to make contact after final service call. Unfortunately, Dan Marc is the only authorized repair shop for my fridge. This is undoubtedly how they get any business at all. Word on the street is whirlpool (owner of kitchenaid) doesn't pay them enough for my required repair (under warranty), so they will do anything they can to avoid putting in the time to do the right fix. Terrible business practice, terrible customer service and frankly not one of the techs that came to my house showed even the minimum level of competence, or performed any diagnostics at all. Do they know how? i don't think so. And that is why these guys are hands down the worst.

This service provider is the one you get when you go to Maytag's website to schedule repair.  Wow, they really suck.  The only thing good I can say about them is that they do come during their time window... which is a 4-hour window.  They insist on sending someone out to look at the problem without any parts for your machine, even though I described in detail what the problem was.  Meaning that you have to stay at home and wait for them twice at a bare minimum.  In this case, it took something like 4 visits (I lost count after a while) to finally fix the problem.  The first time someone actually came with parts, he refused to do the work because it required removing the dryer that was stacked on top of the washer -- even though I had explained this in advance.  The first guy had told me that he could get the major part that had to be replaced (the drum, I think) covered under warranty.  That turned out not to be the case.  In all, in addition to the inconvenience caused by having to stay home from work that many times, the repair cost nearly as much as a new washer -- which wasn't an option, since it's a discontinued model in a size that isn't made anymore but is required to fit a space in my kitchen.
Avoid these guys.  Instead find a better-qualified repair service here on AngiesList, which is what I am doing now that my dryer needs repair.
So much for "Maytag dependability"...

Dan Marc Appliance was the recommended service provider from Maytag to fix my Maytag Centennial washer. They gave me a 2 hour service window on a Saturday, and the serviceman arrived right on time at the appointed hour. He was professionally dressed and courteous. He diagnosed the problem within 10-15 minutes and had the necessary parts on hand. He gave me a full explanation and estimate before starting the work and he completed everything quickly. Tested it out to make sure everything was working and returned the laundry room to it's original state. They charged $110 for the service call, $85 for labor, and $73 for the part. Total with tax was $285. That was a little pricier than I was expecting, but I suspect that is the high-end of the norm. The service was prompt, professional, courteous, clean, efficient, and ultimately effective. The machine works like new. I'd use them again if need be.
