The employee did not seem very interested in our garden. He did not suggest many ideas and we had to ask all of the questions. We were unimpressed. And, although promised an estimate it was never recieved.
We are still researching for a landscaping company. Ironically they were recommended by someone in the complex.
"Thank you for the high rating. We did actually perform the paver walkway and landscape installation on May 23, 2013, and are pleased that you continue to use us for landscape maintenance. Thanks again!"
We had to have the tree removed, the stump ground, the gutters cleaned, and the entire driveway replaced. We did not have to redo entire driveway, but we opted to so everything matched. The neighbors also told us that the roots were encroaching onto their property.
I've had 2 other landscapers said that tree never should have been planted there in the first place. There are also 2 trees in back yard where their roots are beginning to lift the pavers and we will have to have those removed and the pavers replaced as well.
We ended up having to spend $4500 to repair our driveway, $600 for tree removal, and $40 for gutter cleaning. We just feel like he was very negligent and his negligence has cost us over $5000.
"We discussed the above review with the owner, David. The installation of the tree referenced was done, as the homeowner notes, back in 1999; because it's been so long there is no longer a record of it here. Our company was never made aware of any issue from the time of install until this review was posted."
We scheduled time to get an estimate and the gentleman providing the estimate arrived on time, in fact a bit early. We described the situation with the Hosta and the characteristics we were looking for in replacement plantings and he suggested several alternatives before we decided on a Variegated Boxwood. We only got one estimate for this job based on the excellent reports on this company in Angie's List. We might have been able to do a little better on price by getting additional estimates but ultimately we were really satisfied with the quality of work.
They said it might be few weeks before they could get on the schedule which was fine since we were not in any rush. As it turns out they were able to fit us in the week after receiving the estimate. Everything was completed to perfection! The new shrubs look great and are an appropriate size for the location. The edging was done very professionally to the appropriate shape and dimensions, and they carefully spread 5 cubic yards of the new brown mulch to a suitable depth. They even removed much of the faded black mulch which had been in the beds before so it wouldn't clash! They cleaned up everything when done and left our landscaping looking really great with those finishing touches!
We called in a couple of days to confirm that we wanted to work with them, and he came out again to revise/refine the estimate. This is an atypical step. Most companies try to minimize the number of visits, and we could have done this the first time. But anyway, it was good to talk through it as we clarified some of the work.
His staff showed up on the appointment day for the work. The foreman went over the project with me. He was carrying a project drawing that wasn't on our contract and didn't exactly match everything we had discussed. So I had to walk through the project again.
Ultimately, though, it's about the work done. The quality was fine and met all of our expectations.
Definitely worth what we paid, and I'd use them again.
Upon accepting David's estimate, he came to the house to draw up a contract and we agreed that we could add new plants at the time of the job. We made an appointment to go to his place of business and pick pavers, colors and patterns which we did. David's crew showed up 8 AM on the morning of the day he said he would start, about 6 weeks after the contract. The supervisor, named Baldo and 3 other men did the work. He was very easy to communicate with and very receptive to our wishes. They had to carry the materials around the back a long way as my condo is attached on both sides. They laid a plywood path so as not to damage the lawns they traveled over. They completed the patio the first day even thought they had to work till about 7 PM. All of their work was done with meticulous skill and obvious pride of workmanship. The second day they did all the work on the beds; clearing the shrubs, cleaning up the old mulch and roots in the beds, They transplanted the shrubs we wanted and brought and planted the new ones we requested. When my wife decided she didn't like the color of the flower on some of the shrubs, Baldo quickly left and returned with the ones she for asked instead. They then laid down the material which keeps weeds from growing through and covered it with a thick layer of mulch and did this to all the beds. They finished the job, again with meticulous attention to detail and never once seemed to do anything that seemed like they were cutting corners. I was very impressed with their skill and their work ethic. I actually tipped all the workers because I felt that if I did the work myself I wouldn't have taken better care than they did. They left it looking like a showplace. Cudos and Bravo to Baldo's crew and David's who was lucky enough to hire them.
As far as how the job holds up, only time will tell, but I can't imagine them having done anything else to ensure that.
