"Glad we were able to come under your budgeted amount."
The tech explained to me that the damage was caused by a slow leak in the shutoff valve to the sprinker. I am still not certain if this is true, or if the valve was just not closed all the way during winterization. The tech further explained that had the system been winterized properly a small drainage plug would've been removed allowing any small leak from the shut off valve to harmlessly drip out. He said whoever did the winterization did it improperly. I asked him to call his boss and see if they would pay for some or all of the repairs. His boss (Eric again), insisted that the job was done correctly, and they would do nothing for me.
There are a lot of alternative providers for this service, i advise you to choose another one.
"Central Jersey Irrigation believes they were not at fault for the damage to the back flow. I myself are a License Back Flow Tester in 6 states and I know what causes back flows to go bad. Mr and Mrs [removed member name] back flow went bad for 1 of 4 reasons. Reason # 1 The [removed member name]'s winterized their lawn sprinkler late in the year and after there were 12 days of Freeze. There were 12 days prior to us arriving that the temperature dropped below 32 degrees and 1 snow storm. We all know water freezes and expands at tremendous force which can crack just about anything. Mr. [removed member name] says the back flow mushroomed up over the cold winter we had, but what about the 12 freezing days prior to us arriving. Reason #2 Someone may have turned the valve on over the winter ( which happens a lot , most people call us to explain they or someone else may have turned it back on by mistake) Reason # 3 the main valve that we turned off may have gone bad over the winter causing water to drip by refilling the pipes with water causing the damage. Something that can not be seen since the water is dripping inside the pipe. Valves and parts of a sprinkler system don't last forever. Reason # 4 in the winter the ground freezes and expands and moves which in itself can cause damage to a sprinkler system by shifting of the pipes. Mr [removed member name] says we should have left the blow out plug out. We only do that when requested to do so. Leaving the blow out plug out won't help the situation. Water dripping can still freeze and build up and crack anything. Also sometimes homeowners may forget to put the plug back in when spring arrives and they turn their system back on and a flood occurs before they realize the plugs is not in. My conclusion is that the [removed member name]'s winterized after 12 days of freeze and that is what caused the backflow to mushroom up and expand. It did not happen after we winterized the system. We sent the [removed member name]'s notices in September, October and the first week in November that his system was not winterized yet. They choose to wait until November 21 2014 when it was already frozen. This has happened to them 2 other times once in 2005 and in 2008. To clear up a few other things we offered to go to the [removed member name] home to see what was the problem The [removed member name] did not have to convince us to do so. Our service tech at no time said that the system was winterized wrong or that the plug should have been left out. The [removed member name]'s also understood that there is No guarantee on winterizations and signed off on the statement located on the service ticket."
"Thanks for the positive review."
They called 15 mins ahead of time as I told them I was going out
For a few errands and would be back if they called 15 mins ahead of time.
Would recommend... A+
Price is a little higher but I require Saturday service not possible during the week, so amount is slightly higher for weekends.
Very nice guy - had same person for the winterization. I gave an overall A rating because he did not take too long to restart system and took the time to discuss the broken head and possible causes, also gave me the option if I wanted to fix it myself.
