From the beginning Tom quoted a price cheaper that what was actually the case.  I consistently had to follow up on timeline as well as finalizing the overall project.  Communication was HORRIBLE with streamline and the job took months longer than it actually had to take.  I pretty much had to write out everything for them (dimensions and sized per each fixture) and it still didn't come out as planned.

As it stands now, ALL floor fixtures are not consistent (i.e height and color), some still need tightening and all wall fixtures are starting to bow or fall out of the wall :( !!!  One side of fitting room hangs lower than the other.  I will now have to hire ANOTHER contractor to fix what Streamline did.

Let's start by saying that a contract was signed by both parties stating that the cost of the job was $22,700 and the work was to be finished in 6 weeks. They were supplying all materials for framing (2x4s,plywood, sheetrock, insulation, electrical, plumbing, and trim). The CONTRACT stated that the property would be cleaned up after each days work which was never done. We came home to a big mess in our garage and deck and a hazard to make our way around the house. We supplied everything else to complete the project, the cabinets, countertops, windows, doors, flooring, paint etc. Four weeks into the project they revised the amount of the job with no addendum to the contract signed by either party. At that time it was verbally stated that they would need an additional $10,000 to complete the job. I was told that the contract was basically a estimate and that it was not binding. We were told that extra work had driven the price up. There were no work orders signed by us and quite frankly the changes made were on their recommendation and were minor. Work began about mid February and the kitchen was ripped out within 2 weeks. The reframing began and took 1 month to do. On 3/28 the cabinets were installed.(Already the time frame of the contracted was violated). They then began enclosing our porch into a sunroom on 4/3, leaving the kitchen 50% unfinished. From that point on, they flip flopped from one room to another. The end result was that the kitchen job was 85% done by May 23rd, mind you I said 85% due to the fact we still had no lighting or electric outlets installed yet. Now we were into our 14th week of work. The porch/sunroom was 60% done with no exterior work finished. The reason that the time had gone to the length that it did was due to them taking on another job in mid April and literally not coming to our job for days at a time. When they finished that job, they returned  to our job with limited hours and hurried it along to complete it. Knowing they were losing money on our job because it had taken so long, they rushed and we ended up with a job that has multiple flaws that are embarrassing when visitors come over because they are so obvious. The construction methods done on the sunroom/porch were so poor (choice of material, no flashing, and the list goes on) that this job will be susceptible to rot away within 5 years. All work was done without obtaining permits, which Streamline said was not necessary. At this time, I am fearful for my family's safety as a result of the electrical work they did and am having a State certified electrician come in to make sure it is ok. Lights that worked before they began work on the house now are not working. Their plumbing work is leaking. The construction they did needs to be ripped out and reinstalled properly. They ripped out a heating duct to install a gas line and never replaced it. they never connected a dryer exhaust hose outside. It is laying and venting in my garage which is a hazard. There are holes in my walls where they did electrical work and never patched them. I can only suggest that someone come to our home and see this job with your own eyes! You won't believe it. We had given them $29400, which is $7000 over the contract. and now they are asking for more money to complete the job and fix the damage done to our property by them . We told them not to come to our house anymore. There was no basis for what they were asking for. As a result, I sit with a job that is not complete and is a safety hazard.

"To Angie's List member, during the course of the project we had developed a good relationship. As construction was taking place you had numerous changes to the scope of work, which in itself is fine. Changes in layout and material does effect the timeframe and cost. We made that very clear all along as we were working. Our mistake, was that we did not get these change orders on labor and material signed off on, as we were continually reassured throughout the project that we were on the same page and that we would be paid. When the kitchen was almost complete, you began to make comments about personal obligations that would be a financial burden. By the time the last bill was presented most of the work was done and we had only verbal confirmation on the balance. I have learned a very expensive lesson, and will not make that mistake again. I feel that your request to be reimbursed over $16,000 on a job that we have only been paid about $29,000 is unfair and speaks to the true motivation behind your actions. The negative comments made in such a public format will have a lasting negative impact on my business. The very last thing I want is to leave any customer unsatisfied. Word of mouth is essential to the growth of my business. More important to me than an unpaid balance is our reputation. I propose to finish the minor loose ends that we have not yet had a chance to address, at no cost to you. I would like to have a polished, finished product I can be proud of, as I am sure you would as well."

They followed up quickly with me after buying the deal, and they did give me an estimate for the project's costs.  Unfortunately, the company never provided me with any plans or designs for the remodel.  Thus, I didn't get what I had purchased, and I went with another company for the work.

"[member name removed], I'd like to apologize if you feel slighted in any way. As you said, we did respond quickly to your request to measure the project and get you an estimate. I would like very much to refund you the cost of your purchase with Angie's list, and if there is anything else I can do, please don't hesitate to contact me. Our customer's satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us. [email protected]"
