Mac's Heating & Cooling

I called Mac's Heating & Cooling and they were able to respond quickly. I was very pleased with the fast and friendly service. Prices were fair and the work was done quickly. He was knowledgeable and able to diagnose the problem quickly. I have used them before for service on my AC unit this past summer. I had the same great service. I will be using Mac's Heating & Cooling again. I was very pleased with the service!

While his price of $125 for seasonal maintenance for both the AC and Gas Furnace was very good, my sister-in-law was, and compared to other service providers, I believe the work on the gas furnace was not as extensive. The real problem however, was the $219 charged for replacing the wall thermostat. While I agreed to price, it was Joe McIntosh the owner who did the work, and used a cheap thermostat sold at Grainger's Supply for $37.50. He said the one he installed was not a cheap one like you find at Home Depot. Instead it ended up being a cheap one at Grainger's Supply. Surely, at twice the price and $100 for 15 minutes labor STILL would not equal the price I paid. I felt I was grossly overcharged and may still file a complaint with the credit card company. Further while he said the thermostat he would install would not cover the same footprint as the old one, it was vastly different in size and will necessitate me spackling the holes from the thermostat he removed, and then painting the entire wall. I did not expect such a huge difference in size. I wish he would have been more definitive in his explanation of the size of it. Surely he could carry other thermostats more like the shape of the one he removed? They exist, I have seen them. There must be one or more that would work for my system. But Joe's attitude really topped off the situation. Questioning my right to ask him how much he really needed to make. And he reminded me he does not work by the hour but by the job. So he never had to itemize the price of the thermostat. And while he warrants the thermostat for 5 years, we both agreed we would never do business again unless the thermostat failed. He also refused to allow my sister-in-law to keep the box to the new thermostat making us feel like he was trying hide something from us. But I have a photo of the box and researched it online at Graingers Supply. They supply only to the trades.

We called Mac late at night and he came to our house at 9:30 pm. He confirmed we needed to replace our 12 year old upstairs central AC unit. We expected to have to wait a several days for the work to be scheduled recognizing that this is the busiest season for AC repairs and we were in the midst of a heat wave. Mac returned the next morning and installed a new unit and coil! we were up and running in 3 hours. We could not be happier with the work performed and services provided. We have used Mac for years to maintain our equipment and have always had the most professional and knowledgeable service. His work is always meticulously performed with great attention to detail and everything is left spotless when completed. You can not ask for a nicer company and a nicer person to do business with and we would not hesitate to recommend Mac for your heating and cooling needs.

They are actually putting my new air conditioning system in this year. I have used them before and he just does a really good job. The guy is really honest and he doesn't charge a lot. The air conditioner is shot. He told us that the money we paid he would give us as a credit for the new air conditioner. I wouldn't use anybody besides him. I have been in my house for almost 17 years and we have used him from the beginning. He really is our go to person.
