Overall, things went well.
Selecting a mover is a big undertaking. I started with contacting a few nationally known companies, then companies within the tri-state area, local companies, investigated the possibility of doing the moving myself with a rental truck, renting pods, etc. I used different websites, Angie's List and personal recommendations before finally deciding on hiring Rich Lemmerman. His company was one of three local movers that were recommended by my mother's realtor, but my final decision was based on who I felt comfortable talking to, who returned my calls, who came to my mother's house to give me an estimate, and who I felt would do their best to safely deliver my mother's possessions to her new residence and storage unit on the day I requested.
The price that Rich quoted was the price I paid; there were no "hidden" charges. Rich's price was not the lowest quote I received, but I decided to hire him for the reasons I explained above.
