It was necessary to find a certified contractor to remove moss from entire roof due to insurance requirements. .This was the 2nd contractor that we used. The first, only power washed and job was rejected by insurance company. This contractor explained that power washing would only not kill the roots of the moss and it would return in 6 months. Thus after power washing again he applied a environmentally safe chemical to the entire roof which would destroy the roots and moss will be destroyed. Contractor extremely knowledgeable and professional.

Alex and Anthony came over around soon after the time of appointment. There was an early problem with one of their connecting cables, but they fixed this quickly and moved on to spraying the entire house with their solution. The back of the house was especially dirty, moss and all. After powerwashing, the house almost looked like it had been recently painted. Overall very satisfied with the service, and Alex and Anthony were both professional and courteous. Highly recommended.

I had received another quote from a competitor including additional minor items for ~$8K, you could've heard my jaw drop of course. Thompson offered incredible value in their estimate, and based on reviews on Angie's List, it seemed like a slam dunk.
They arrived early the morning of the appointment, two gentleman, both polite and courteous. The supervisor, Jeremy, answered all questions and was very responsive and professional. They started around 9am and finished mid-afternoon. When they finished all black algae was gone from the roof and the house appeared as though freshly painted. The lichen remained, but had turned white. They had assured me it would take some time for the lichen to wash away.
I wanted to wait to give this review to document, if in the event the lichen had not disappeared, how they would remedy. It came down to the wire, but sure enough within 90 days the lichen washed away. If you order this type of wash, have patience.

The smell of the roof was horrible. And lasted a long time. They were not careful the way they dragged the hoses they used and they killed some of the flowers in front of my house.

I called Ed in Oct 2012 and asked him to come over and look at my roof. I had some mold, algae, and lichen ( which was eating into the shingles). We set up an appointment right away and he came out and gave me an estimate and explained what would happen. He also explained that the lichen took a long time to die, dry up and come off, depending on how much rain we would have. Of course we didn't have much rain/snow so it was not progressing as I had hoped. I tried to be patient knowing this and by April called Ed again. He sent a crew to re-treat the roof . Thankfully we had lots of rain after that and sure enough, my roof looks brand new! This time it only took a couple of weeks to really see a difference. Ed was a pleasure to deal with, always returning calls promptly and his crew were all friendly and worked quickly and efficiently. I highly recommend Thompson Roof Cleaning!

The crew of 2 people arrived on time. They introduced themselves, walked around the house with me to confirm what they were going to do, and reviewed the process that the business manager had previously explained to me when I originally called. One person then got on the roof and hosed it down with a special cleaning solution, and the other person stayed on ground level to keep spraying the flowers and bushes with plain water in case any over-spray with the chemicals got on them. When they were done, they rinsed off the windows and driveway to make sure that no residual stains were left from the cleaning solution. When they were done, the roof looked very clean. It was a pleasure working with this company, and I would highly recommend their services.

Ed was extremely professional, courteous and responsive. He called me back within a half an hour of my initial call to his company. He was able to give me an estimate over the phone within seconds. We scheduled the appointment that day! Ed was kind enough to have his crew also clean my deck, which was a nice surprise. He did an excellent job on my house, not only did I notice how clean it was, the house actually smelled clean and fresh from the power wash! Overall, I was really impressed by the service and have already told Ed to put me on his yearly calendar so they will return again next year! i would highly recommend this company! Alex and Anthony did everything that Ed said they would do and more. They were polite, respectful, accommodating, conscientious and informative.
Seems to me that exceeding customer expectations is a part of their culture.
This was my first experience after recently joining Angie's list. This makes me wish I had joined sooner. This was the best possible start. Standards have been set quite high.

I called Thompson Roof Cleaning and Pressure Washing based on the excellent reviews in Angie's list and spoke to Ed Thompson, the owner. I explained that my 13 year old roof was very dirty with black streaks and some green mold. The vinyl clad siding on my house was also very dirty, with one side that receives little sunlight, very black with mold. Ed gave me a price of $670 to do both the roof and the siding and we made an appointment for 5/29/13 for 9:00 A.M. To my surprise, the truck arrived around 8:00 A.M. with Alex and Anthony. I was already up so I did not have a problem with their over promptness.
Alex explained in great detail what he and Anthony would be doing , the order they would do it, and approximately how long it would take. They protected all the shrubs around my house with plastic coverings and used plastic bags to catch the bleach solution as it drained off the roof and down the gutters. They did this because the bleach solution for the roof was of a stronger mixture needed for the roof. They then worked on the siding with a milder bleach solution. The roof and siding was then rinsed very thoroughly with water. They even cleaned a small plexiglass canopy over the entrance door to my house, which was very green from mold. That also turned out spotless!
The complete job was finished in about two hours and the roof and siding looked absolutely brand new once again! I would absolutely recommend Thompson Roof Cleaning and Pressure Washing to anyone requiring this type of work to be done on their house. Ed even gives a 5 year warranty in writing against mold reappearing! I would definitely use this company again.

How did it go well !!!!! here it goes!!!! First of all the employee Ed sent is far from beng a professional and even know what he is doing.
When he started the work he should have noticed that something was going wrong. He ruined the entire texture of my stucco my house was a beautiful beige color now is tri-color white, orange and beige!!! Although Ed responded quickly to my calls he is doubting and insinuating that the damage was not done by his guy. I have before and after pictures and all my contracts to proof that all the work I mentioned above was all done brand new less then a year ago. Ed should have come and see the job himself prior to just sending one of his workers to come and do the job without even knowing what type of work needed to be done.They ruined my pavers with the chemical they used. They dented and broke pieces off my fence. Now the Deck!!!! The deck was completely ruined paint completely off in many areas and some of the wood highly damaged. Now the Ironic part of the story behind the deck is that the same worker that ruined my house looked at my deck and told me that if I want to get my deck done that their company restores and paints decks. We told him it was just done less then a year ago! he told me and I quote " well they did a very sloppy shabby job" Reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy It was the very same company that he was working for that did my Shabby sloppy job. So now it will cost $10,000 to do my stucco over, I still don't know what will happen with the Pavers and my Fence. Not to mention the Deck needs to be done over. So far I only have the quote for the Stucco because my contractor came right away to check and advice me not to let anyone paint it because it will ruin it more it has to be redone. This was my Day yesterday and today with a few more long days ahead of me. Now how is it that I trusted to hire someone from Angie's List to do one simple power wash and turned into such a catastrophe. There goes Angie's List for me. i will never trust her

What I really would like to know if Angie's List only shares the good reviews with members???? Because why is my review not visable to the public? My review still stands accurate and as a paying member I expect it to be acknowledged, respected and viewed. This company caused me a lot of Stress, not only stress but the damages incurred cost me $13,900 and his Insurance only paid me $8800.00 so basically I loss $5100.00 due to their negligence. Not to mention that my $20,000 pavers in the backyard are still white which in another 4 months if they are still white I will contact his Insurance again!!!!

"After we washed this house there was a faint orange film that developed on the stucco. This is an extremely rare scenerio and has happend before. It happens when there is a high lead content in the stucco. It fixes easily by applying oxalic acid. This customer would not allow us to fix it. She demanded brand new stucco. She wouldnt take my phone calls and started sending legal letters. I had no choice but to turn it over to our insurance."

The roof went from a dingy roof that was an eyesore and would definitely have affected any sale of the home to a clean roof that looked like it was brand new. I couldn't have been happier with the service.

I hired Ed's company because I had dark stains on my roof and big patches of moss growing. While they were at my house they also washed the front walk and steps. It was about $400 and change for the roof and about $200 for the steps/walkway.
When I first spoke to Ed, he explained the process that he uses to wash roofs, and told me not to expect "instant gratification" because they use a chemical rinse rather than power washing or scraping the roof. Their technique is kinder and safer for your roof, but he said that it could take as much as 90 days for the moss to die off.
The stains went away immediately. But the moss, although it died almost immediately, turned white and now, instead of big patches of live green moss on my roof, I had big patches of white dead moss on my roof. The rain and the wind and even Hurrican Sandy didnt wash it away.
After waiting about 90 days, I emailed Ed last week (January 2013) because I stil had the dead white moss on the roof. Ed responded promptly,he was pleasant, he sent a couple of guys over to my house the next day; and they got up there and rinsed the remaining dead moss of the roof. It looks great now.
In short, Ed did what he said he was going to do, did it at a fair price, and did it well. That's what I'm looking for in companies I hire. I receommend them and would hire them again.

Called Ed Thompson to see if he could clean the moss from my garage roof. Unfortunately, he is too far away in New Jersey and I live in Connecticut. However, he was very friendly, knowledgable and gave me great tips and pointers. I highly recommend his company!

I almost hired another local service provider, but when they asked for 50% up front and did not take credit cards I became leary.
I found Thompson Roof Cleaning and Power Washing from a web search. Thompson had to travel over an hour to get to my location but still took the job.
Their prices are competitive. They did not ask for $ up front and would take credit cards.
The associate that came to perform the cleaning was on time and very efficient. He moved all my plants, umbrellas and decorative items away from the house. Explaining that this was to protect them. The solution would not permenantly kill the plants, but could damage the leaves, etc. I appreciated the education and the fact that he moved everything - told me my help was not necessary. He was happy to do it. (Very Nice)
He did a wonderful job. Had me inspect it after he completed the work. Explained how long the 'cleaning' would last and made recommendations for other 'house' cleaning services. No pressure.
They provided a detailed receipt that included their warrenty/guaranty.

They arrived on time and did an excellent job on the roof cleaning. They covered up any plants and shrubs with plastic to protect them from the chemicals used on the roof. All my plants survived. I also had my house pressure washed and that was also a good job. Although about a week later, I had a repairman to my house to fix some siding and he noticed that my electric box was completely loose on the siding. I believe that when they pressure washed by the electric box on the siding, it took off the caulking and that is why the electric box was loose. I was very lucky the repairman noticed and was able to recaulk or he said it could have been a major problem. Overall it was a good job.

"Ms Member, Thank you for the review. We're sorry to hear about your electrical box. I'm concerned that may not be the only electrical box mounted with caulk. Any electrical fixture or receptacle should be mounted with nails or screws. We ONLY soft wash houses and NEVER use high pressure to wash sidings. An electrical inspection may be appropriate by a licensed professional. Please all us if their is anything we an help you with. Enjoy!"

The roof on the front of my house was severely stained -- the shingles were light gray, but they were so stained the roof looked black in many places -- and very blotchy. Garage roof was similar -- and had some moss growing on it. I received a flyer on my driveway one day from Thompson that talked about their roof cleaning service, so I decided to call. They answered my call right away and set up a time to come to the house and take a look. They were right on time for the appointment, and explained how the process would work. They let me know that the roof would probably look 80-85% better the day they cleaned it, then probably 90-95% after the first few rains. I decided to schedule to have it done since the roof looked terrible, but was only 14 years old or so -- so should have a lot more life in it. The price they quoted was around $595.
They came right on time on the day they said they would to actually clean the roof. I was not at home when they did it, and when I got home later in the day, I was totally amazed at how good it looked! It was like I had put on a whole new roof! It looked brand new to me. What a relief! The dirty roof had been a big pet peeve of mine, and now every time I drive down my street and pull into my driveway, seeing that clean roof makes me smile.
