Halo Land & Tree Service

Do not use this company, we have had a terrible experience. This company is primarily a 1 man operation. The owner will sometimes hire helpers if the job is large. Two months into our four month contract, the owner had only come to work on our lawn 4 times, which is half the number of times that he should have come. We contacted him every week to ask why he didn't come, and we were always given an excuse. After 2 months, the owner stopped showing up completely. We tried to contact him repeatedly but he was nearly impossible to contact. After 2 weeks of trying to contact him, we finally got through to him. We asked him if there was anything wrong, a family emergency or sickness that was preventing him from coming over. He said that no, there was no issue, and that he would call me back shortly to explain everything because he was driving. No call back. After another week of trying to contact him, we got through to him again - this was our final contact: he contradicted his previous story and told us he was dealing with some medical issues, and promised us a refund. He promised to stop by 2 days after our call to settle the bill. However, he hasn't shown up yet and both of his numbers (cell phone and landline) are now mysteriously disconnected. Angie's List used to have a number listed for the company's contact and it is also missing. In summary, we paid $550 for him to mow our lawn twice, weed whack the side walks twice, and then disappear completely.

The owner of Halo gave us a great price and seemingly great customer service in order to get our business, but when it came time to work they were horrible. They worked on their own timeframe, not starting as planned, not rushing to get the job done- it took almost 2 weeks when we were promised a job in 2-3 days. They left beer cans and cigarette butts,  around the backyard, drove their machinery carelessly all over our back lawn, and even got their truck stuck creating huge divets in our lawn. Rather then remove the trees and stumps they kept asking to dump them down into a river near our house (less work for them), which we had said we didn't want from the beginning.  Once the trees were finally removed they procrastinated on clean up of the job. It may have been a bigger project than they bargained for but they did not handle it professionally.

They did an excellent job, and they cleaned up after themselves. The price was good for removing a tree, the trimming and removing the trunk. The other company charged me more to take down a tree and left the stem but they removed the stem of that tree for $150. They were very good.

In Feb when Halo removed the old stump I told him I would have him remove the pine tree after my surrounding flowers bloomed. I called on the 12th and left a message. He called me that evening and came the next day to remove the tree.
