They don't change the oil filters when you go in for an oil change. I know this because my oil filter was marked with a marker with black X just to see what they'd say when I caught them not changing it. Of coarse they denied it and said that they use Bosch brand and the X was supposed to mean new (a lie). The true epitome of what a scam-shop mechanic would do. It also makes me wonder if they use inferior oil or if they actually change the oil out at all.

Performed a full synthetic oil change and came to find out that they did not replace the oil filter. I know this because my last oil change was done 3 months ago in the summer by myself.
When I peaked underneath to check if the filter was new, it was the same one I had bought from an auto parts store a few months back. Oil however looked new.
Went back to them and they admitted to their and quot;mistakeand quot; and replaced the filter but if I had never checked, then I would have never known and they would've gotten away with it and my car suffers in the end. GT Automotive does not inspire trust in a mechanic.

I am always responded to quickly, usually by Bill, the owner of G.T. Japanese Automotive. The service is always quick, unless there are parts to be ordered (in which case I am notified before bringing the car in) I have used GT Automotive and not the local Honda dealer because the problem are diagnosed by a mechanic, not just a computer. The costs have been significantly less that the dealership, and it is explained to me in a way that is understandable and professional.

We have been taking our 3 Japanese cars to GT Japanese Auto for several years now. They have been exceptionally honest, fair and reasonable. I wouldn't trust our cars to anyone else. I have had our cars towed to their location which is 40 minutes away because of the peace of mind knowing they will correct any problems in a professional and timely manner.

I have used GT Automotive in the past but I always dread going to them for any service be it small or major because their prices are very high. In desperation I had to get my rotors replaced and to my disservice I had to pay them more then what they initially quoted me because they stated that the prices were raised for the parts needed for the repair job. A job that would normally cost about $350 with other mechanics ended up costing me more than double. Obviously when you have your car already at the mechanic and in the middle of being serviced you are at their mercy to do the job properly and at a reasonable cost. They do their job with precision and decent quality but their costs are astronomically high. I will not go there again and would not recommend friends to go either unless they change their pricing policies by stating firm prices up front and lowering their overall costs to make it in line with other mechanics.
Response from GT Japanese Automotive Inc
"I can find no record of this repair here. We replaced front brakes on a Nissan Altima in 2005, no rotors. We always do our best to repair for the price quoted, or have a good explanation for any difference. Bill"

I usually get on my maintenance done by them. They diagnosed your car pretty well and they don't charge you something that you don't need.

But...we have been going to them for nearly 20 years and have had dozens of great experiences. They are honest. They are reliable. They are well priced. GO!

The struts needed replacment, I was aware of it. Got quote from Bill, he said the parts were available. After they had the front end installed, called me they got wrong parts from supplier, took additional 5 days and extra $70 out of my pocket for expedited shipment to get the job done. Fine, the thumping noise still there, took it back on Sat for assessment, asked them for quote, said he didn't have it, and they shouldn't be that much, okay, made another trip to get it installed, the bill came to $500 bucks, holy crap! If I knew it's gonna be that much, I would have taken it to another trusted mechnic Dealer alternative in West Orange (little out of my way, but trust him with my heart!). The worst part is, the thumping noise still there! and the third times I went there after the suspension was installed, the mechanic told me he was aware of the noise but didn't tell me. Dealer Alternative checked the old endlinks, no leak on seal, perfectly fine, spent $500 for absolutely nothing. DA spent an hour and nailed down the problem to be the rear sway bar is failing, did some temporary fix just to get me going on a Friday evening. The noise is gone!!!! they are okay with regular oil change, tire installation, tune-ups maybe, but not detailed troubleshooting, it turned into a guessing game the expense of my pocket.

I am glad I found this company to use when this problem came up. I thought they were a little expensive, but honestly, sometimes you have to pay for quality work and I don t mind this when it is done right the first time. I can recommend them and will use them again when and if I have to.
