We signed contract in Jun-2020 with 6 months timeline to complete construction. After many delays, construction started in Nov-2020. We still kept running in delays. Clear timeline was never provided. We had to keep extending our construction loan with bank. Opdyke lumber filed lien on our property since Steven didn't pay them on time. After many unexpected additional construction expenses, Steven was able to get temporary CO in Dec-2020. It is always very hard to get hold of Steven via phone or email. Steven stopped answering ever since making payment in Dec-2021. We are in May-2022 and we still didnt get our final CO yet. Many things in house is still left undone. Happy to change review even if you complete work now.

We hired Steve in October 2021 for a house renovation and 2 story addition and gave him a substantial deposit. He had 120 days to obtain zoning, engineering and construction permits and if he did not then the Contract terms allowed us to cancel the Contract. During this time his communication with us was poor and he made many excuses for his lack of response. We ended up cancelling the Contract because he did not meet the agreed upon timeline. The WORST PART is that he had kept our deposit and refuses to return it. He won't respond to our emails, phone calls or letters. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND HIRE SOMEONE ELSE!

We began engaging with Steve/ Cassio Builders for the construction of our new home in June of 2020. We completed our contract in September 2020 with project completion in March 2021 and extension deadline bringing us to May 2021. Throughout the weeks and months we worked with Steve, we were presented with constant excuses and delays for our project. Despite working through some selections (per Steve's request, but without much guidance), as of the beginning March our construction had not even started, and necessary materials were not ordered. After speaking with another 2 of Steve's clients, we found that both of those projects were also significantly delayed (one 5+ months past estimated completion and the other not yet started within the month of planned completion). Now they are having trouble getting their phone calls returned and projects moved forward. To say we are completely unsatisfied with the relationship with this builder would be a total understatement. We have since ended our contract and are taking up legal action to recoup funds drawn that were not been spent on our project. We've recently heard allegations that there are other outstanding legal claims against Steve/Cassio Builders that we were unaware of prior to this week. It appears Steve is more focused on continuing to sign on projects than to complete the projects he is currently contracted for. I'm posting this in hopes of preventing what happened to us from happening to others. Steve is a charmer, full of lies and overpromises. While his intentions may not be bad from the onset, he has significantly overstretched himself and does not appear capable of remedying the situation.

Do yourself a favor and hire a PROFESSIONAL, HONEST company to build your home. The owner Steve is a scam artist. He hired our company in Metuchen, NJ to do curb work for a new home he was building then never paid us. I have text messages from him saying "he forgot" "sending out the check today" "sorry just been busy" then never sends it. Then when you ask to pick it up directly from him he will ignore you. We waited for almost a year to be paid, now we unfortunately have to put a lien on the property where the homeowners had nothing to even do with it. Imagine buying a brand new home only to find out there is a lien on it from the builder? Awful.
