Bruce returned phone calls, kept his appointments, and obviously knew his business. My experience with him was positive and he will be my go-to guy for not only fireplace issues, but also plumbing issues. I'm so glad I found him through Angie's List. (

After purchasing my 1960s-era house in Middletown I smelled gas outside by my back patio and called NJNG. I was horrified to discover that there were multiple leaks in the gas lines, both inside and out. Bruce/Proper Plumbing was recommended to me by my divorce lawyer, so I knew that at the very least he'd be competent and capable, because my lawyer has no patience for incompetence. What was truly awesome was Bruce's customer service and great attitude and true desire to help. He came out in the evening, right away, to get an idea of what might be going on with my gas lines and give me an estimate. He spent over an hour on Friday night going over my pipes and identifying various issues. Bruce then returned the next day, *Saturday*, and worked until the evening, testing my entire gas system to make sure that he found all the leaks and repairing the various valves and pipes that were compromised. He returned that Monday, a National holiday no less, and finished the job. I was present in the house during every second of the repair and Bruce not only worked non-stop, but he explained everything to me and showed me everything he was doing, step-by-step. And then he really went above and beyond the call of duty; he asked me to call NJNG and arrange for them to come to the house to turn on the gas. And then Bruce waited for the NJNG technician to arrive and he went through *every inch of my gas system* with the technician, showing him everything he'd done and explaining every single aspect of both the system and the repair. He tested the system with the NJNG technician and made sure that not only were my gas pipes totally leak-free, but he also made sure that all of my gas-using appliances were working again. Throughout the process Bruce always told me what my various options were as far as the different ways to address each of the repairs and he always presented the most reasonable, cost-effective option. Oh, and the total cost of the repair? It was within $25 of his estimate. And his bill was fully itemized and the hours listed on it were fully accurate. So he really knows how to give an accurate estimate, even on a complicated job.
I am going to move my built-in gas grill, hopefully next Spring, and I will absolutely use Proper Plumbing/Bruce for that job as well as any other that ever comes up. He's my plumber. Period. When you find honesty and integrity and customer service like this, you don't use anyone else.
