Midas Auto Service Experts

Awful! Man, this is not rocket science and this is an advertised service, but it was a bumpy road neverteheless. I have been using Midas for my oil changes for ever because no one else gives you an oil change...plus.....a tire rotation for $22, or $25, or even $30. Midas prices change slightly depending on the franchise owner and current promotions. OK. So I move to this town and go to this new-for-me Midas and here's what happened: = A surly contact person began the experience. Hey, everyone has off days - no big deal. = I leave the car = Call comes to the house from Midas. "Your tire bolts are frozen, what do you want to do?" I said, "Well, what do you do in this case?" Answer, "We try to get them off, but if we break them, it will have to be replaced" Then I say, "How many bolts are frozen?" He responds..........." 3 different wheels." Holy smokes! Hmmmm. This has never been an issue before with my vehicle, why now? I tell the guy....not....to do the tire rotatation because of the frozen bolts. He says OK and that the car, therefore, is done. The Midas guy doesn't know that I have a lifetime wheel alignment service with another auto repair chain and that I can go and get my tires rotated effortlessly and at no cost........which I do immediately upon picking up the car from Midas. I alert the 2nd repair shop to the possible frozen tire bolts and he assures he will look for that problem. 2nd repair shop does the tire rotation and finds.....NO ......frozen bolts. My take on this experience.................Midas did n o t want to do the tire rotation in an effort to save money. = Payment. Deal for tire rotation and oil change is approx. 25.88, but the bill came to $29.00. I question the amount and find that they have thrown in 2.50 for rags. Not uncommon, it is in the fine print on the poster, but my previous Midas shops never did that. The poster says...."may charge" a shop fee, so I am vulnerable and they are covered. Overall experience was : = unsettling = adversarial = exploitive = dishonset I may go back to get the rotation and the oil change deal, but I will be fully prepared this time to not be handled so poorly. You shouldn't have to arm yourself and prepare for battle when you go to a service provider.
