We knew there was going to be trouble when we couldn't get phone calls or emails returned for updates on the whereabouts of our belongings. Two months later when our goods arrived, they were unloaded from the moving van with reckless abandon, literally tossing boxes, piling them precariously on top of one another upside down, and boxes marked fragile at the bottom of piles of boxes stacked 6 or 7 high. There was an extraordinary amount of breakage. When we tried to secure a settlement, the company paid us $57.60, estimating that 96 pounds of goods were destroyed. Further attempts to settle were futile. The case went to arbitration through the BBB. Although the movers were ordered to pay damages, they failed to comply with the terms of the arbitrator's award. More than one month after the deadline set by the arbitrator and many emails with the BBB, Cross Country finally paid the full award for damages. If you choose to hire this company, take out the full insurance allowed!
