This was our first time moving and it did not go well. We did not have a lot of money, so had no choice but to use a broker which we knew would spell trouble for us. I guess we just hoped things would work out for us. The broker hooked us up with this company. Mike, the owner is reasonable and fair enough to deal with, but you have to get through Ralph and Simon first. We were told two distinct lies about our delivery dates and cannot figure out why they bothered lying. We were told our stuff would arrive on the 21st or 22nd of Jan. We sat home and waited. No calls or delivery. We eventually found out the truck was still in IL - not WA!! Was told to expect our stuff a few days later, on the 29, 30, and then 31st. Finally Ralph made it sound like the 31st would really happen. We sat at home all day, no one called us. We called everyone (no one called us), talked to Simon (was told it was coming that day), talked to the broker (was told it was coming that day) and then nothing came. Finally we got a hold of the only honest person we could find, the trucker, Sergei. He told us he was in Colorado. Clearly he wouldn't be making a delivery to us on the 31st. We were furious. In Mike's defense, he did claim that he talked to Simon and Ralph about why we were lied to, but he could not produce an answer other than "I think they hoped it would get there". They had 20 days to drive cross country with our stuff and it took them 31. It took us 6. If they had been honest with us about the delay, I might not be complaining, but it was almost cruel treatment to get your hopes up (when you have been sleeping and eating on the floor) when the company must have known delivery was not possible. Furthermore, we packed all our stuff in boxes so the movers would only have to load our stuff. When they arrived (we had already started driving so my parents were dealing with the loading) they packed our boxes within boxes and then charged us $46 for it! I have asked for this money back and not received anything. I have filed claims with the company and I do expect (I am hopeful for some sign of goodness from them) some money back for all these inconveniences. The claims included damage to our property (they wrecked a slab of wood on the new deck moving our stuff in), damage to furniture (broken table leg and antique chair), and delivery delay (lies!). They have only had the paperwork for the claims for 2 weeks. Let's hope they actually process the claims and give us some money back! We got what we paid for, we will never use a cheap moving company again. Actually, we are only going to be Uhaul or Budget folks from now on.
Description of Work: Moved our household goods from NY to WA. Pick up was scheduled between 1/2/2009 and 1/3/2009. They said they would get stuff on 1/2 but came on 1/3. Delivery was supposed to be between 1/9/2009 and 1/22/2009. They delivered on 2/2/2009 at 7pm.
