Gene did a great job walking us through the process on making sure our house was well insulated. Very detail oriented and he is very knowledgeable. As promised, a few months after he was done with the job (which was done in the early spring) Gene came back to measure and show the difference now the house was properly insulated. Would highly recommend using his services for your insulation needs

Gene was very responsive to my request for an evaluation of my home to find opportunities to address cold/ drafty rooms. He performed a free assessment which was nice (not all in this business do). He made several recommendations after an in depth examination, and wrote up a detailed quote breaking out each line item. I appreciated the cost transparency. We decided to take the initial step of applying spray foam to insulate the duct work in the basement and attic. Gene used good ventilation techniques and the end result was very neat. He cleaned up well. He shared the before and after data in terms of the surface temperature of the duct work. It is clear it is making a difference in terms of the evenness of the heating in the home. I will definitely hire again.

Nothing was improved. After further inspection there were several other openings that were supposed to be repaird, but were not.

"[Member Name Removed], Sorry to hear than you're not happy with the job we did. We gave you an estimate to seal and wrap your ductwork that was leaking into the attic as you stated. The job was done on 6/01/2015 a year and a half ago. You hardly had any air flow going to the first floor, as I showed you using my digital velocity tester. I wrote down the velocity of each vents before we started the work, and did the same after the job was completed. I showed you the results and you seemed very happy, as you could actually feel the air coming out of the vent for the first time, so I'm surprised to get this review after a year and a half of using the heating and air conditioning system with no complaints. I personally worked on your job and remember when we started the job the outside temperature was around 90 degrees, and it was about 10 degrees cooler in your attic. As the work was being performed, and the unit was being sealed, the temperature was going up in the attic to the point that my men as well myself could only stay up there for a 1/2 hour before having to take a break. We worked on the unit for two full days, and if there was no improvement that wouldn't have been acceptable to me or you! Maybe after a year and a half you forgot just how bad it was. It was fine. They came right on and did the audit. I decided not to go forward with it but they delivered everything they were supposed to deliver. The owner or the guy that came out was very friendly and explained exactly what he was doing and walked me through the whole process which was helpful rather than just coming in and issue a report. Just taking the time to talk it through with me was very helpful. I think we were relatively okay so it wasn’t very detailed. There’s a couple of spots where we could do a little more insulation but other than that, we were fine.

The price was okay for consultation. The pricing was astronomical for the bid. I let them know that the price was very high and he understood.

Everything was fine except that old wood was used for some of the plywood flooring.  When I commented on it, they returned and replaced it.

The scheduled energy audit went well and Gene was very responsive in scheduling the dates, confirming the appointment 1 day prior and arriving promptly (he was held up a bit but he ensured he let me know in advance).
Upon arrival, Gene got straight down to work and lost no time telling what all he was going to cover. He started with the basement assessment and analyzed the HVAC unit's ongoing heating performance (it was winter time so only heating was analyzed). The basement insulation was completely analyzed and then the HVAC ducts were analyzed. Gene uses a FLIR thermal imaging hand-held unit and showed me what where he believed problem areas were. He also provided benchmarks on what he has observed with other houses & units  and where he believed my HVAC units ranked. This was very informative.
After the basement, Gene went straight to the other HVAC in the attic and conducted a similar audit around the roof and the HVAC unit. Provided similar feedback and recommendations for what can be done to improve heating/cooling efficiency.
Since we had not yet moved into the house as of the date of service, Gene was candid in telling me that we need to spend time occupying the house before making any decisions on how we are "feeling" the heating/cooling. I appreciated that rather than getting pushed to buy additional services. Gene also checked air vent velocity and vent air temperature on the 1st floor (my vents were open as I was expecting a cleaning service to come through later). He confirmed that temperatures and air flow rates were good and that we had robust functioning HVACs in place. That was a major relief and re-assurance. We discussed additional options to make the energy consumption more efficient around the house including smart thermostats etc. Gene was candid in sharing this thoughts & opinions and was not pushy about anything all through.
Gene did evidence a few "hot spots" where we are leaking heats and has followed-up with an estimate for insulating and packing the same subsequently. I will be in touch with Gene in a some time later this year

Gene and his team were absolutely a pleasure to work with. From the initial meeting to follow up work after the job was completed, Gene and his team were responsive and professional. Gene also took a lot of time explaining each piece of work they did and sent me before and after pictures of the heat gun registering how the insulation improved the temperature in various problem areas around the house. The work took several days to complete and I was home alone with a newborn. Gene and his team did everything they could to not be disruptive and to ensure that the house was spotless after they left each day. I felt comfortable having Gene and his team in our house - they were friendly, professional and completely trustworthy. As they were doing the work and Gene uncovered additional issues, he adjusted the work plan to make sure he actually fixed the problems. He did not charge us for the extra work that he did. In fact he took off one charge when he determined that it wasn't necessary to do that specific item. We are very pleased with the work that was done. Our house is much warmer and the heat is working much better now. Gene is not only an excellent contractor, but he is a good person. A few days after the work was completed our sump pump broke and was spraying water all over the basement. I didn't know who to call, so I sent Gene a text to get a recommendation. Instead of referring me to someone else, he came and fixed it himself and did not charge me anything. He also spent a couple of hours fixing our kitchen faucet which was not running properly and was not getting hot water. I cannot say enough good things about Gene and his team. I highly recommend him for insulation work and also contractor work.

The same owner runs another contracting company called Your Way Contractors, which is also listed on Angie's List. Gene has done a lot of different things for me. He is very experienced and knowledgeable on both insulation and basement. Initially, I was only asking him to do the insulation. He noticed the weird smell in my basement and found a lot of mold behind my drywalls. The root cause turned out to be the blocked french drain and got fixed. In between the works, we had a massive water leakage from the toilet. I texted him on Sunday and he came to my house the first thing in the morning on Monday. Another thing I liked about him is that he explained to me in detail about his plans. As a first home buyer, I learned a lot in the process.

Pointed out leaks throughout. Mr. Eugene Inspected and read all temperatures, pointed out all leaks throughout, took pictures,

explained flaws on the system, such us not being insulated, previous contractor had left 45 years old flexible duct, many areas constricting the airflow.

The reasons why I still have dust in a daily basis regardless of having hired a professional duct cleaning company because previous contractor did not do what they were supposed to do.

The useless returns installed by previous contractor was explained by Eugene why it was useless: the fact that inside walls had no insulation, we have just 2x4 inside walls, previous contractor just added a return that really spreads the air throughout wall inside and not into room because there is no duct installed inside wall to guide air though.

Needless to say, its endless the poor quality of workmanship, the non caring way of performing a job.

The wrongly installing the heat pump system, ac/heat in the attic, leaking from it a tremendous amount of energy. (heat,a/c)

Looking forward to rectify this problem with duct and insulation to save energy and be true green home. Through "Turning your home green LLC"

Gentleman (Gene) was very nice and professional.  I thought what he told me was relevant to my home.  However, at this time, the $2000 price he was going to charge for the work is not in my budget.  I will definitely keep this company in mind when my money is available.
