"[Member Name Removed], Sorry to hear than you're not happy with the job we did. We gave you an estimate to seal and wrap your ductwork that was leaking into the attic as you stated. The job was done on 6/01/2015 a year and a half ago. You hardly had any air flow going to the first floor, as I showed you using my digital velocity tester. I wrote down the velocity of each vents before we started the work, and did the same after the job was completed. I showed you the results and you seemed very happy, as you could actually feel the air coming out of the vent for the first time, so I'm surprised to get this review after a year and a half of using the heating and air conditioning system with no complaints. I personally worked on your job and remember when we started the job the outside temperature was around 90 degrees, and it was about 10 degrees cooler in your attic. As the work was being performed, and the unit was being sealed, the temperature was going up in the attic to the point that my men as well myself could only stay up there for a 1/2 hour before having to take a break. We worked on the unit for two full days, and if there was no improvement that wouldn't have been acceptable to me or you! Maybe after a year and a half you forgot just how bad it was. Everything was fine except that old wood was used for some of the plywood flooring. When I commented on it, they returned and replaced it.
Upon arrival, Gene got straight down to work and lost no time telling what all he was going to cover. He started with the basement assessment and analyzed the HVAC unit's ongoing heating performance (it was winter time so only heating was analyzed). The basement insulation was completely analyzed and then the HVAC ducts were analyzed. Gene uses a FLIR thermal imaging hand-held unit and showed me what where he believed problem areas were. He also provided benchmarks on what he has observed with other houses & units and where he believed my HVAC units ranked. This was very informative.
After the basement, Gene went straight to the other HVAC in the attic and conducted a similar audit around the roof and the HVAC unit. Provided similar feedback and recommendations for what can be done to improve heating/cooling efficiency.
Since we had not yet moved into the house as of the date of service, Gene was candid in telling me that we need to spend time occupying the house before making any decisions on how we are "feeling" the heating/cooling. I appreciated that rather than getting pushed to buy additional services. Gene also checked air vent velocity and vent air temperature on the 1st floor (my vents were open as I was expecting a cleaning service to come through later). He confirmed that temperatures and air flow rates were good and that we had robust functioning HVACs in place. That was a major relief and re-assurance. We discussed additional options to make the energy consumption more efficient around the house including smart thermostats etc. Gene was candid in sharing this thoughts & opinions and was not pushy about anything all through.
Gene did evidence a few "hot spots" where we are leaking heats and has followed-up with an estimate for insulating and packing the same subsequently. I will be in touch with Gene in a some time later this year
"Hi [member name removed] Thank you for the fantastic review. (We appreciate it) I'm Glad your happy and warm NOW in your new home. Thanks Gene & crew"
explained flaws on the system, such us not being insulated, previous contractor had left 45 years old flexible duct, many areas constricting the airflow.
The reasons why I still have dust in a daily basis regardless of having hired a professional duct cleaning company because previous contractor did not do what they were supposed to do.
The useless returns installed by previous contractor was explained by Eugene why it was useless: the fact that inside walls had no insulation, we have just 2x4 inside walls, previous contractor just added a return that really spreads the air throughout wall inside and not into room because there is no duct installed inside wall to guide air though.
Needless to say, its endless the poor quality of workmanship, the non caring way of performing a job.
The wrongly installing the heat pump system, ac/heat in the attic, leaking from it a tremendous amount of energy. (heat,a/c)
Looking forward to rectify this problem with duct and insulation to save energy and be true green home. Through "Turning your home green LLC"
